DR Laura, you need to make a playlist of all the music you'd like to listen to on your walks.

When you have the itunes application open, you'll see all your songs you have imported in the list called "Music", under the "Library" column. It's the first thing at the top of the left on my computer.

Go under the "file" menu at the top of the computer screen when you're in itunes mode. When you pull down from "file", the first item should be "new playlist". Select that and an "untitled playlist" folder will appear under the playlist column. You can click on this folder and rename it if you want, say, to "Walking Music".

Then, click on whatever songs you want in your play list and once they are highlighted, drag them left into the playlist folder. Voila...you have your very own playlist.

From the ipod help site

How to put iPod shuffle on hold
Last Modified on: January 11, 2005
Article: 300498

To prevent accidental button pressing when you're using iPod shuffle, lock the buttons (this is similar to using the Hold switch on other iPod models).
To do this, press and hold the Play/Pause button for 3 seconds. The LED will flash orange three times to signal that the buttons are now locked. While the buttons are locked, you will not be able to adjust the volume or pause playback.

To unlock the buttons, press and hold the Play/Pause button for 3 seconds. The LED will flash green three times. You can now adjust the volume, change songs, or pause playback.

I was going to continue on to tell you how to get the playlist into your shuffle, but the Apple website instructions will be of more help, especially since I don't have a shuffle...I have a nano.

Actualy, I guess I do have a shuffle since my knee has been hurting the past few weeks.

I just watched the most delightfully delightful little British TV DVD called Robbie Coltrane:  Incredible Britain.  "Hagrid" takes a driving tour through the backroads of England wending his way north to Glasgow.

I was reading the stuff on their website. It seems we have it figured out.

It was easy and too dumb to try to explain.

It had nothing to do with any of the stuff in their non-instructions.

Had an evening composed almost entirely of HAWAII FIVE-O episodes.

One thing you have to give the series credit for was that they did mix up the plotting of the show. Sometimes it's a mystery, sometimes an action show, sometimes a caper show. Really very intriguing what kind of episode it will be each time.

One of the episodes I watched involved hijacking shipments of valuable objects which were then resold on the black market. Marion Ross was one of the guest stars and Don Chastain was the really evil one.

"Steve told me..."  I could just die!

Eat your heart out!

I can even tell you the approximate date - June 1982 - and where: the balcony of Alice Tully Hall, dress rehearsal for the Gay Men's Chorus concert; he had come to hear my choral arrangement and orchestration of "Our Time."

Back from Sunday in the Park With George; I had a lousy TDF cheap ticket; I nominate the show for the Pulitzer and the winners don't even invite me to this revival! The ticket was far on the side of the fourth row. All I could see was the apron of the stage, so I went up to the balcony, which was half empty, and found a good seat, high up, center section. It was a great view and wonderful for seeing the projections.  I liked Jenna Russell better than Daniel Evans, whose singing drove me crazy; I thought he was doing a Mandy Patinkin parody at times. The cast may be miked but in the balcony the band covered them a lot.

Next came a really clever caper episode led by Jack Kruschen. Really enjoyed the intricate plot to steal $6 million.

Another involved the murder of a doctor's wife and the theft of her jewelry. Jackie Cooper played the doctor and Lou Antonio played the man who confessed to the murder. Neat little twist on the story.

And the last one I watched involved the potential assassination of the governor played by Richard Denning. Pretty good cat and mouse tale.

I forgot to mention that in the episode that I finished about the sniper from earlier today, Jeanne Cooper played the sniper's mother and a VERY young Annette O'Toole was his young wife.

DR DearReaderLaura - I think I know what you mean.  I remember thinking that my iPod shuffle - the original version - was more complicated than it actually was.  I couldn't get it play either.  It had turned out that I had pushed one too many buttons initially.  SPOO!

Dan-o could book me anytime he wanted, but preferably in a resort hotel with just him and me in the same suite.

These episodes look very, very nice for the most part. Much better color than I ever saw on the color TV at home back then.

I finished my evening by watching last night's episode of THE MOLE. Loved it every bit as much as I did all those years ago when I was such a fan. Love the exotic settings for the missions, and love watching everyone participating (or not) in the activities.

And I certainly know which one I think is the Mole. Always curious to see how my opinion will change or get stronger in the upcoming episodes.

I'm waiting for the results on the Hyperion refinery zoning election. It's within 200 votes with 2 precincts still out.  The yeses are winning.  I really don't know what I think, I'm glad I didn't have to vote on it

Dan-O gives a beautiful performance in the 1958 Studio One presentation "Tongues of Angels", where he plays a deaf mute taken in by Frances Farmer, Leon Ames and their daughter Margaret O'Brien.  Farmer's performance in this one is nothing short of revelatory, especially considering what she had been through.  Absolutely gorgeous Copland-esque score by Goldsmith, IIRC.
