Hmm...

It looks like I made an unplanned background cameo in the latest Cubby Bernstein episode (episode four).

I feel a cool breeze wafting into my upstairs office window. Looks like another night without turning on the A/C, but I did come close to it earlier this evening.

Um, did anyone notice how abruptly I disappeared several hours ago?

Quite unexpectedly, the weather sirens went off and the TV started beeping and tornadoes were spotted west of here in College Corner and Oxford.  After the sirens went off the third time, I went to the basement and stayed there for about an hour, equipped with a transistor radio, a bottle of water, a flashlight, and my cell phone.  Once the radio convinced me that the storm was tracking to our south, I emerged and watched the storm coverage until it seemed to be past my mother.  After talking with her (she'd gone into her bathroom - no basement - with provisions similar to mine) and determining that she's OK, I finally got my packing done.

It's still a little rumbly out there, so I won't stay long...

Thanks, DR Cillaliz.  Actually, I had to go downstairs to fold laundry anyway, but had to stay longer than I'd expected.

It had to do with clicking a box, and yet the box did not show on my screen. My DH had the brilliant idea of changing the resolution on my desktop, which made all the print too small to read, and yet made the necessary box appear. It makes no sense to me, either.

I think all the cows have gone home - or at least elsewhere by now - but...

DR RonP i have a question about your recipe (which i would like to try).

It doesn't say how many egg whites to use.

You mention 3 egg yolks for teh main part of the pie.

Is it simply the remaining 3 whites for the meringue?

Yes, three.

DearReaderLaura, if it makes you feel any better I have fears of having the same difficulties as you with an IPod...that is the main reason I have not yet bought one...oh, and because they are expensive.

Tomorrow I will leave the cold, rainy, 55 degree weather of Oregon and enter the hot, humid, 95 degree weather in Tennessee.
