Jose - have you seen this Mohegan Sun commercial to the tune of My Sharona?  Do you know if these are Broadway dancers?  (If this has been discussed before, I apoligize for repeating it.)

Yes DR TCB - it was indeed the This Is Your Life Edsel that Frances was pulled from after careening off the highway during THE VISIT.

This was the last hurrah for the car.....she purchased a lovely 1966 Oldsmobile that was soon history after being driven through a stack of old tires behind a gas station, over the storage building next door, and crashing into the front of the town jailhouse in Nashville.

Bruce, my friend:

I totally disagree with you about RAWHIDE.  I've seen it a few times.  It's quite suspenseful, has some interesting characters and surprising plot twists.  Tyrone Power may not have been the ideal choice for a western, but he's supposed to be a "dude" in this picture, which explains his actions or lack thereof.

But, that's just my opinion.

 

And that's what makes horse racing.  I understood he was a dude, but that makes for very uninteresting drama when every other character but your leading man takes action.  I mean he never even has that moment when he takes charge and stops being a dude and becomes a hero.  For a film of its era and with Mr. Power, I'd say that's fairly radical.  The film runs under ninety minutes and seemed endless to me, and also Mr. Hugh Marlowe just doesn't do it for me as a bad guy.

elmore, "that old queen", after some years of inactivity, has somehow gotten his foot (or some extremity) in the door somewhere and is getting them to spend lots and lots of money.  And he's been trolling messageboards and asking people to e-mail him or call him so she can justify everything.  I don't know any other person who does this sort of thing who has ever done that - ever.

I live in Harrison, NY - in Westchester County.  A mere 20 miles North of downtown Manhattan.

I saw half of In Plain Sight so far and I really enjoyed it.  We did purchase tickets to Gypsy and Xanadu for our trip the end of July.  SO excited!  JOSE, you have been a wealth of information.  I'll keep on visiting and throwing in my comments as well.  The CORN on the cob with the president...what I wanna do is just WHAT is he going to do with that thing?  He has a really determined look on his face!

My question for ASK BK day.....is there any movie you have seen that you were unable to guess the ending....or the ending was such a surprise or twist that it caught you by surprise?

It's so odd how differently we can see the same films. I thought "Rawhide" extremely taut and well-paced.  It moved quickly, and I thought Power and Hayward a terrific team.  Since the escapees thought Hayward and the infant were his family, Power's character had to be extra-cautious and less foolhardy than so-called heroes we see in films today.

I thought he was probably more true to what most of us would be like in such a situation.

Someone posted a rather negative post about a certain CD, and guess who was right there, all defensive, saying the recording had a 60 piece band (!) and telling this person he was on crack and that his remarks were slanderous and that you never know who's reading the board.  I replied "Oh, yes we do."  And I asked the simple question as to why you'd have a 60 piece band for a show that originally had less than twenty in its pit and is orchestrated specifically for one violin.  I then said that the real "slander" would now start and be hurled in my direction, just as it was on the other board until I had it removed.  We'll see if he dares do it, because if he does I'm afraid I shall have to be a very bad boy.
