I worked with a fellow at Wamsutta(when I was working) named JAMES WELLINGTON.

Guess what his nickname was?

Good Evening!

Well... For the seventh or eighth day in a row, I headed down to the Lower East Side for an afternoon of exploring and eating (of course)...

Miracle of miracles, when I walked up to Artichoke Basille's, there was no line and they had a so-fresh-out-of-the-oven-that-it-was-still-bubbling Artichoke Pizza sitting on the cooling rack...  Ah, Sir - Happiness indeed!  :)

*And when I walked by the place on the way back about an hour and a half later, the line was about 15 people deep... and there was no Artichoke Pizza at the ready.

I would hazard a guess, but I'm afraid what would happen to me if I guessed wrong.

Unfortunately, no.   :(
Just a quick shotgun wedding trip to San Francisco and back.

DR MBarnum, this was my selection, but I'm not sure if I have the figure to pull it off:

Well... Maybe Vivienne Westwood could loan you a dress for the special occasion.

And it really was a gorgeous afternoon here in NYC.  Not too hot, a nice breeze every now and then, and just enough cute and handsome guys in t-shirts and shorts.

And speaking of Scones...

Since I happened to be just around the corner, I headed to City Bakery's birdbath[/i] after consuming my slice of Pizza.  All the usual "suspects" were on display, but since they had just put a fresh batch out for sale, I settled on one of their Mixed Berry Scones.  It should make a great breakfast tomorrow morning.  :)

Speaking of Iowa flooding:  NBC News opened last night with a feature on Cedar Falls, which just happens to be where a gaggle of my cousins and my one surviving Aunt live (her late husband was dean of the Teachers' College there for many, many years).  And lo and behold, there was my cousin Bob filling sandbags on the news last night!  It was kind of cool to see him on the national news, but a sad occasion nonetheless.

Small world.  Tonight is pretty sad.  There are tornadoes everywhere tonight...a big one went through a Boy Scout Camp south of here and they are reporting 30-40 injuries and 4 deaths.  Looking on the camp's website, Boy Scout Summer Camp was going on.  Very sad and only sketchy details right now.   We missed this one as well. My parents are probably in the basement right now as their county is also under a tornado warning

Have been contending with weird, wild and woolly weather....

Flipping semis, rain, tornadoes, rain, hail, lightning, flying cows, high winds, flying trees, more flying cows, and more rain!!!

They are saying that the Scoutmasters were training at the time the tornado hit. It's one of the largest Boy Scout Camps in the country

Oh, my, DR Cillaliz, what an awful story from Iowa.  When I was a Scout mom/wife (Richard was a leader the whole time Rob was a Scout), I spent many nights pacing during bad weather when they were on camp outs.

I see Beef Wellington on menus every now and then.  Maybe I'll order it the next time I see it.  -I think the last time I had Beef Wellington was at a New Year's Eve celebration about 15 years ago.

I do not recall seeing that on menus up here... Curious and I would like to try one sometime
