So, tomorrow is a test. A few weeks ago I bought a bike. A Townie Electra 7 speed. Why you ask? Well, I'm sick and tired of the price of gas. My commute each week is approximately 1.5 tanks of gas. So, what I had in mind was to bike to the train station, take the train north, and then bike to my destination. $8 round trip. We'll see how it goes. The bike is nice, smooth, easy to ride, and I'm looking forward to the exercise. I guess it's just jumping in with two feet and see what happens.

We actually had a nice rain tonight. I guess it qualified as a thundershower, but it lasted longer than a shower - at least 30 minutes. Didn't seem to cool things off much, but at least we got dearly needed rain.

I watched COMPANY (the Raul Esparza version) on Blu-ray tonight. Looked nice, but the tie on the actor playing Larry had some line aliasing problems which is VERY surprising on Blu-ray, so I hit the info button to find out what resolution I was watching the show with. Turns out, Image transferred the show in 1080i rather than 1080p. I'm guessing that interlaced transfer was the reason there was the slight line twitter that annoyed the heck out of me every time Larry had a close-up.

The liner notes lie by saying it's a 1080p transfer: it isn't.

I watched all three bonus features on the disc. First up was an almost 40 minute interview with Stephen Sondheim conducted in London early in 2007 (SWEENEY TODD had just finished filming). He's always interesting to listen to even though I had heard many of the stories we told.

There was a 15 minute interview with Raul Esparza taped obviously after the show had closed since he looked heavier and had a beard.

I enjoyed hearing him talking about his work with Doyle on the show and his approach to SOndheim in the three shows of his he has done.

I was in a movie musical mood, and since I had the Blu-ray machine already fired up, I put in the Blu-ray of HAIRSPRAY. Didn't watch the whole show, just some of my favorite numbers. What a bubbly, infectious score! I do love it.

I am watching His Kind of Woman starring Miss Sophia Loren and Mr Tab Hunter - and they have some surprisingly good chemistry together - certainly more than Ms Loren had with Mr Anthony Perkins in Perspire Under the Arms.

That's the real scare behind brushfires - they strike twice, once in the summer, and again months later. Even in Burbank, I knew kids whose houses were severely damaged or lost due to the mudslides.
