I'd stick around, but the inventory is tomorrow, and I need as much rest as I can get.  Time to wuss...

A former co-worker (she's now the front end manager at another store) told me repeatedly how terrified she is of earthquakes, and how she could never live in California because of them.  I just shook my head and replied that the brushfires are the real terror.  Earthquakes, I've always taken in my stride.

(And I found it hilarious that she and her husband annually head to Las Vegas for the air races, since LV has more tremors than LA.)

Hopefully, there will be some good rains (not downpours) to get the groundcover back in shape before the winter/spring rains next year.  That's the real scare behind brushfires - they strike twice, once in the summer, and again months later.  Even in Burbank, I knew kids whose houses were severely damaged or lost due to the mudslides.

Bleh.

My brother, Jay, in San Diego is hoping that they have a not-so-wet summer this year.  They greenery is still growing back after last summer's fires, so there is potential for mudslides this year.

Back from giving blood.  They put out a call for donations and opened up the blood bank.  There are at least 40 injured scouts and a number of them were life flighted here. I'm sure more went to Omaha. The camp was about half way between the two cities.   Anyway, there are hundreds of people lined up to give blood tonight.  The kids at the camp were between 13 and 18 years old but I've heard they are treating people from infants to adults.   Pretty sad.  I missed the news, but apparently there were over 100 people at the camp when the tornado hit.

Thanks, but you may not say that if you knew I budged in front of at least 100 people in line...

Hey, I had two different people tell me to do it, what could I do?  Then I was told to go out on the blood mobile bus that had just been set up.  We had music and I had the cutest EMT named Derek take my blood...

I'm supposed to leave the bandage on for 2 hours and its a very uncomfortable bandage, so I'm not going to try to sleep with it on, I'll just stay up for a few hours.

I am watching His Kind of Woman starring Miss Sophia Loren and Mr Tab Hunter - and they have some surprisingly good chemistry together - certainly more than Ms Loren had with Mr Anthony Perkins in Perspire Under the Arms.

The best chemistry would have been Hunter and Perkins!

Most of the injured had been on a hike when the tornado struck, authorities said, leaving them without protection from the deadly winds.

A search and rescue team deployed after the 7 p.m. (0000 GMT) twister had to cut their way through branches during a lightning storm to reach the camp where the 93 boys, ages 13 to 18, and 25 staff members were attending a weeklong leadership training camp.

The meeting was endless, two-and-a-half hours to say what could have been said in one hour.  Lots of repetition for no reason - I finally said what I had to say, and everyone basically agreed with me, so I think if I'm involved next year I'll be consulted a bit more on the structure of the entire show presentation rather than just the entertainment.
