Stealing my tag line?

No...more like exploiting borrowing it.   For a good cause.   :)

DR Elmore, re COMPANY:

Having done a "standard" version of COMPANY back in the early 1990s (I was Harry and spent weeks learning to be thrown so I wouldn't get hurt), I didn't care for the staging or Doyle's patented approach to this material. That said, the score is pretty well served by the cast, and in DTS-HD MA sound last night, I found myself replaying some songs that sounded really wonderful.

I have every other Sondheim show that's been issued on commercial DVD (or Blu-ray) with the exception of the LuPone/Hearn SWEENEY TODD which I just could not stand. So, this had to be added to the archives.

I also thought that the cast, not the production was wonderful; with one exception.  I didn't like Joanne.

It was indeed a noble thing that DR Cillaliz did last night!   :)

I wish I could donate blood, too.  But alas, the Red Cross will not accept mine.   :(

Me, three...but I've never tried.  I wonder what they would actually do.  I really haven't had the opportunity to be exposed to anything. ::)

Had an excellent chicken salad sandwich with bacon and cheese, and some not-so-hot fries.  I mean, they were hot, but not that good.

DR George - I can't remember exactly what question they ask that elicits that information.  It's been quite a while since I donated.

The Red Cross also has [or used to] an interesting scheme where you can check a box on the questionnaire form which indicates that they should automatically discard your donation.  So that people who feel under pressure to donate [i.e., in a work setting] can do so without signalling anything to their co-workers, while at the same time keeping the blood supply supposedly "safe."

I've never even heard of this option.

Those are lovely!  It's a shame that you had to go through what you went through to get them.

:)

Well, the other option for getting them is worse!

I think they just basically ask you if you have had sex with someone of the same sex, or with a IV drug user.

They actually turn down my blood for four different reasons.

Well, the other option for getting them is worse!

So true, DR TCB.  The procedure I had was not for a life-threatening condition, but to keep my foot from looking like my Mother's 30 years from now.  I told my pre-op nurse yesterday that I almost backed out and she said, "Well, these problems don't correct themselves, so you might as well go through with it!"

I told them I wanted a second opinion.

So the doctor says, "And your ugly!"

Richard is right now in the process of making chicken salad for our dinner.  No fries, but maybe some Reduced Fat Ruffles potato chips.

I had no intention of seeing this summer's GET SMART, but after reading Entertainment Weekly, and finding out that Steve Carell and Dwayne Johnson exchange a kiss, I just may have to see that movie.

And speaking of Entertainment Weekly, they have managed the formerly impossible.  They have managed to put a cover photo of Mr. Johnson on the their magazine, and made him look unattractive!

I've never known what my blood type is.  My niece's type is a universal donor, my mom's is a universal plasma donor.

When I had my back surgery in 2002, the doctor wanted me to put aside two quarts of my own blood, in case they were needed during my surgery.  In order to donate these two quarts to myself (to be used by no one else), I not only had to fill out thier questionaire BOTH TIMES; but I also had to go thru the counseling session BOTH TIMES so they could explain why my blood could not be used.

No the counseling sessions were to explain to me why my blood would have to be tagged for patient use only.  Which is why I was there in the first place.
