I am expecting the Criterions for THE FURIES and BEFORE THE RAIN, but they're not here yet, so I didn't add them to the Media Check list. I expect them to come tomorrow, and, if so, will watch BEFORE THE RAIN tomorrow night.

Very excited to read that two more Donald Stratchey mysteries have been filmed. The first, premiering in late July is ON THE OTHER HAND, DEATH. (I would assume the DVD will follow in a few months).

The second is ICE BLUES which will premiere this fall.

I love these mysteries and can't wait to see these upcoming ones. Too bad my cable service doesn't offer the here! network, or I could see them without waiting for the DVDs.

Friday morning greetings!  I had a bad night, mostly due to some GI effects of all the meds.  My big challenge for today is figuring out how to take a shower without getting my left foot wet.

Sorry to hear that, DR Ginny...   :(   I guess some ups and downs in your recovery are to be expected, but still...

At least the soon-to-be shower episode will probably be a story you can dine out on for years.    :)

DR Singdaw - I'll spare you the details - wouldn't want to spoil our dinner date at the Burger Shack later this summer!

Thanks, DR Matt H.  I was going to post about the initial new Strachey offering on Here!, having seen their ad in the new issue of The Advocate.

On our cable network, Here! is structured so that you pay a nominal amount each month to have the access to their menu of offerings, any of which you can choose to view with no additional per-title fee.

DR Ginny - ~~~~~CALM STOMACH VIBES~~~~~

I remember the last time I was on a course of anti-biotics thinking that the side-effects of the anti-biotics were worse than the infection itself.  -Can you take an antacid and/or yogurt/acidophilus now?

Well, I'm off for a day of cul-cha - or something resembling cul-cha...  A movie, a museum, and then it looks like I'm seeing a show tonight too.

DR Jose - yes, yogurt is very appealing.  And I've cut back a little on the pain meds.  It's not worth it.

That would be an intelligent way to handle it (though again, a gay network is discriminated against by not being part of the usual digital tier of channels).

How nominal is nominal? $6? $9? $12?

How nominal is nominal?

I think it's a $7/mo add-on.

As for the Friday Media Check:

Sergio Mendes - "Encanto" - Boy do the tracks on this album make a subway ride go by very fast!  And there's just no way for me to listen to this without dancing a little bit and smiling.

Get the Japanese release, too, if you can find it, Jose.  Different artists doing various songs.

As for the Friday Media Check:

Sergio Mendes - "Encanto" - Boy do the tracks on this album make a subway ride go by very fast!  And there's just no way for me to listen to this without dancing a little bit and smiling.

A Catered Affair OCR - I was a bit hesitant about purchasing this since I was not too thrilled by the show in person, however, in some ways it works better on record.  -From a licensing standpoint, I just have to wonder how Harvey Fierstein's music is notated.  ;)

Kelli O'Hara - "Wonder in the World" - It's a good album, but most definitely a mellow album.  Alas, I do share the same quibble that a lot of the Critics have with the album - the re-arranged and re-grooved "Fable" from The Light in the Piazza.  It really does sound a bit forced.  And the quasi-Latin treatment of "I Have Dreamed", well... :-\

In The Heights OCR - Calor! Calor!! Calor!!!

Eric Cutler, tenor; Bradley Moore, pianist - "Debut" - I came across this recital disc while browsing at Virgin.  It actually came out a few years ago, and is/was a part of EMI's "Debut" series - I think Nathan Gunn's first recital disc was released under this imprint too.  And it was only $8.00!  Quite a nice disc, and it's nice to hear Bradley Moore again - I remember him from his days at the University of Maryland.

I went immediately to Amazon and listened to snippets of ENCANTO.

Based on that Uncle Jo Jo and Your recommendation I bought the CD.

HAVE A SAFE AND COOL WEEKEND
