Has everyone seen this delightful clip of BK's one-time duet partner?

I think my favorite speeches were for Best Actress (musical) and Best Actress (play).

I may have to break out my own personal bitch-slappin' machine!!!!!

Well, finally, a big old-fashioned (in the best way) musical number - Patti socks it home and brings real B'way magic to the show.  The rest are poseurs.  I do know that Miss Merman would never have walked upstage and turned her back on the audience, but with today's mics, you can do anything.  I'm sure the Merm just planted herself center and never moved.  But Patti really nailed it and it really made me wish I could just fly to NY and see it.

I'm trying to think which shows i would want to see based on the performances tonight.

I'd say yes to SOUTH PACIFIC.  Yes to GYPSY.  Maybe to IN THE HEIGHTS.

I have no idea what PASSING STRANGE is. But it seemed very weird on the show.

I really liked how whoopi introduced the nominated plays. Made it very interesting.

I liked whoopi as host. I just found at times she disappeared for too long.

Btw, the show went over by like 2 minutes!

So, DR Jose, what kind of ice cream did you get?  I just had some Edy's Slow-Churned Caramel Swirl - can't take these anti-inflammatories on an empty stomach!

That's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it!

Stew wins for best book of a musical.  I haven't seen the show, but I cannot imagine it has much of a real book.

BK, I wondered about Patti's upstaging of herself, too, but loved the business on the "Take a bow" lyric.

In the Heights won for best score.  He referenced Sondheim!

DR George - How did I end up in both Blue and White?

I happened to be on a page at the time you hit 30,000 posts.  Because I didn't refresh, all of your posts on that page showed 30,000.  I just hit the print-screen button twice...once on one of your messages in blue and one in white.  Because I wasn't on the page of your actual 30,000th post, I don't know which one it was.

I tried to (honestly) listen to the complete recording of the show with the actress who won "best" for her performance in a revival of a musical - I can't do it.  I don't  know how well she acts - the voice is just so UGLY. I just can not get past that. She almost makes Alanis Morisette's voice sound sweet.

(apologies for that clumsy construction).

Are we on a West Coast Spoiler-Free Environment? If so:

SPOILER SPACE

All Divas have their admirers and detractors.  And there is fervency on both sides of that coin.

I found her performance a true force of nature - even when I saw it for the fourth time and she seemed to be dealing with a cold.  And her performance on tonight's Tonys was far from a murder.  In fact, it was the best she's sounded.  -And she sounded pretty spectacular this morning too at 10:45!

If you like her before, you will love her in this show.  If you didn't like her before, well...

*But again, I really can't listen to Betty Bucklet anymore, so... -And I actually almost bought "Quintessence" - then listened to a few tracks online, and knew that it would be one of my "Only Played Once" CDs.  -Like the rest of her CDs in my collection.

Ah, South Pacific - a show with a SCORE, a show with a real BOOK - heaven.  And the Emile - what a wonderful VOICE - a REAL voice with no riffing, no BS, just a gorgeous tone and maybe the handsomest Emile ever.  A must see, even from the little clip.
