So true!! :D

Regarding the Colony, they are the most overpriced CD store in NYC.  The last thing I bough there was BK's A HOLLYWOOD CHRISTMAS (before he was selling online) and that was because it was the only place in NYC I could find it (I had checked at least a dozen stores).  They charged $25.  Although I don't know for sure, I assume that because of their location, most of their customers are tourists.

The one time I went to New York, I went to Colony.  I should've gone to Footlight first!!  Anyway, I bought the London cast recordings of 1776 (which I've never seen ANYWHERE else) and Children of Eden (this is 1995...before the American premiere and revised version), a live concert recording of Chess, the London concert cast (but not recorded live) recording of Nine and a couple of other recordings that I don't remember.  I spent more there than any other place in NYC.

Last day of work was yesterday.  Worked just a half day as I still had 12 hours of personal time I hadn't taken and couldn't get paid for.  So today I'm actually getting paid, PTO that is.  Now today I have 2 interviews with temp agencies but they know I'm not interested in anything that isn't temp to hire or direct hire.  *crossing fingers* I was due for a raise so hopefully something more than I was making before.

Is DR sippystraw, in his first post on this page, telling us that he is -- literally -- wearing macaron pudding today?

DR Ron Pulliam - you may intepret my post in any manner that is pleasing to you.    :P     :)

Good Afternoon!

I had a GREAT time spending time with Chris, his son, Henry, and their dog, Betty.  Henry did eventually wake up around 11:30 - Is that crying I here? - but he was a total angel once I walked into his room and took him out of his crib.  -Unlike my niece, at least he remembers me.  :-\

In any case... He really has gotten soooo big since the last time I saw him, but I guess 18-month-year-old boys have a habit of growing that way.  And then once his Daddy got home, we had a great time catching up on things and life.  It was a really nice way to spend a few hours today.  :)

And for anyone who may be interested, here is Mario Lopez's "competition"...

Nick Adams

*I just watched last night's "Chelsea Lately" and heard about the recent 2x-ist "issue".  Interesting.  Very interesting.

Or should I carry the theater tickets on me so there's no chance of their getting lost?

That's what I do.

DR Ron, I'm worried that summer has arrived WAY too early for the Bay Area this year and we'll be in for a long hot one this summer.  Last summer, we barely turned our A/C on, this year, we've used it more than last year already.  Oy

That's a fact!  We're well into fire season right now and we don't usually see that until August or September.  Fings ain't wot dey used ta be!

Upon my return home, I had an e-mail waiting for me.  I have no idea if it's just a conicidence, but it was from the owner of Colony Records, telling me the check was sent for the invoice.  He carefully avoided saying whether it was sent last week as promised, but I suspect it was sent yesterday or today and hopefully it will arrive soon.  He also said he still had copies of the CD - I told him that that's not what I was told by the person who actually purchased them, so someone is not clear on the issue of whether they sold them all.

It's pretty warm in the home environment, about seventy-seven, but the Handy Man's Man isn't showing up until later this afternoon, and then who knows if he'll get it fixed.  The Handy Man now admits that it's probably always been the breaker and that it probably stems from the same problem the other breakers were having - a short somewhere on the line that he cannot get to.  Hence, he'll probably have to rejigger this breaker, too.  Since none of the other breakers have ever been an issue, hopefully that will, once and for all, solve the problems, but whether that can get done by dark or not is anyone's guess, although I've made it very clear that I do NOT wish to spend another evening trying to sleep in an eighty-degree plus house.  But this is what he does - gets here so late that it's virtually impossible to finish because it ultimately gets dark out.  I may give him another call and see if he can move up the time.  He also said I'll get some sort of reimbursement for all the air conditioning parts replacements that were apparently unnecessary.

It's Friday afternoon. I've worked my butt off this week and will most likely work at least one day over the weekend, so I'm still at the office but am goofing off.   Good grief, I used to be very good at this goofing off, now I'm out of practice. Of course it has been a year since I left the FPD.

Yes, I loved MAD MEN (though I felt it fell off a bit near the end of its season), and I'll be reviewing it on Blu-ray next week. DR JRand was also a major fan of the show.

DR Elmore (or anyone else):

What are your favorite recordings of THE MIKADO, PENZANCE and PINAFORE? I'm torn between the first recorded versions and the 60's D'Oyly Carter versions...

My favorite radio station has also instroduced me to the recordings of Peter Dawson. I'm in a shopping mood!

Maybe I should call Colon-y and ask if they have E.P.??

I thought we had a discussion of favorite MIKADO recordings when you saw the Carl Rose production. My favorite recording is the Sadlers Wells Opera recording with Clive Revill and John Wakefield, conducted by the great Alexander Faris.

As to PINAFORE and PIRATES, I prefer the old Sir Malcolm Sargent recordings on EMI-Angel with George Baker and Elsie morrison.
