I'm so far having a day in which everything I'm working on turns to crap and I am not pleased about it. Hence, I am crabby and irritable.

I hope my trek up to my HMO will turn things from frustration to satisfaction.

And the word of the day is: CAPACIOUS!
One of the things I like about those hats baseball players wear is the plastic doohickey in the back that you can adjust to make the headgear more CAPACIOUS.

Richard Martin Stern - author of The Tower, one of two novels (with The Glass Inferno) used as the basis for The Towering Inferno.
I actually read both of those, back when TI came out, or thenabouts.

singdaw - We didn't get to see IRMA VEP.  We decided to see THE VISIT twice.  Thanks for the link, though - quite interesting.

Is it Scher or Sher?

Thanks, DR FJL.  It appears to be Sher.

OK, I've got a few for the Whovians.

First, Rebekah Staton, who played Jenny/Mother in the third season two-parter Human Nature/The Family of Blood.

Next, Ryan Sampson, who played the not very nice Luke Rattigan in this season's two-parter, The Sontaran Strategem/The Poison Sky.

And, most recently, we've had the character Professor River Song, in Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, as played by Alex Kingston (an actress who some may remember from being on ER).

Either way, it spells "no good."

I'm back from the HMO. On Friday, I called in 5 count 'em 5! prescription refills, and I was asked, do you need all five? I said yes. I just picked up an envelope for 2 count' em 2! prescriptions. What the fat hell?

I have never heard of a visit to a health maintenance organization improving anyone's mood.

Okay, I'll admit that I had to look up the spelling, but Rade Sherbedgia played Emile in the TV version of South Pacific with Glenn Close.  He was also on a show called "Surface" that was cancelled after the first season...on a cliffhanger. :P

He was also the star of a Criterion disc I reviewed last week: BEFORE THE RAIN.

Good morning!

Another coolish morning and it was also overcast until a few minutes ago. It seems like the clouds may be clearing away and it'll turn hot, but so far, very pleasant morning.

Best friend John is back from his beach trip but is so backlogged with work that we may not be able to do lunch today. So I may be going solo at lunch out today.

I'll be watching more MAD MEN on Blu-ray this afternoon and this evening. The show really is so much more enjoyable with that crystal clear picture (AMC is rather grainy from my cable service.)

PULP FICTION was the first Quentin Tarantino movie I ever saw, and I was basically repulsed by it. I felt unclean upon leaving the theater. I've never watched it all the way through again, but I'd be up to it since I have since seen other films (and TV episodes) of his and am sort of used to his visual and literary style now.

Despite recommendations by DR TPunk to watch the two parts of KILL BILL, I never got around to it. However, I read that Disney is coming out with both parts on Blu-ray this fall, so it looks like I'll be watching it for the first time to review.
