My guess is, to keep the cat from contracting feline leukemia.

But I like DR Cillaliz's answer much better!    8)

Here are the lists of semifinalists for the Best Drama and Best Comedy Emmys to be announced in mid-July.

The best drama semifinalists are: Boston Legal ; Damages ; Dexter ; Friday Night Lights ; Grey's Anatomy ; House ; Lost ; Mad Men ; The Tudors; and The Wire.

Semifinalists for best comedy are Curb Your Enthusiasm ; Entourage ; Family Guy ; Flight of the Conchords ; The Office ; Pushing Daisies ; 30 Rock ; Two and a Half Men ; Ugly Betty and Weeds.

And now here are my reactions:

Drama: I cannot believe they have BOSTON LEGAL as a semifinalist (it made the finals last year). It was a really lousy season for the show, and it's SO undeserving. I'd much rather have seen THE CLOSER, BURN NOTICE, LIFE, or ELI STONE up for that slot.

Comedy: Where is THE BIG BANG THEORY? MY NAME IS EARL? DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES (which had a GREAT renaissance this season)? Very, very disappointing choices.

DR MattH, i totally agree with you re: BOSTON LEGAL. Did not like this season at all. I'll put my votes in for LOST, DEXTER and DAMAGES.

So the cat won't run away, because the cat is declawed, because the cat is the new genetically engineered hypoallergenic cat and is too valuable to be mixing with the ferel cats in the neighborhood.   Because you love the cat?

My cats are indoor cats, they live longer than outdoor cats

Well unless they develop some weird brain disorder, attack you and have to be put to sleep, but in general it's true.

My five Emmy nominees from that drama list: DEXTER, DAMAGES, MAD MEN, LOST, and GREY'S ANATOMY. (I'd have included HOUSE except all that stuff early in the season with the selection of the new team and the misuse of the old team being given nothing to do even though they're still in the opening credits just didn't sit well with me.)

Of the comedies: THE OFFICE, 30 ROCK, UGLY BETTY, ENTOURAGE, and PUSHING DAISIES.

I wish I could take Steven Pasquale home with me! He's a cutie and absolutely adorable (as a braindead fireman) on RESCUE ME.

Of course, if those Criterion discs EVER come, then I'd add PATRIOTISM and MISHIMA to my DVD list.

On TV tonight:

The GLAAD Awards on Bravo. It's a compendium of all of their award ceremonies in all the cities with lots of guest stars. Should be fun, and it's only an hour.

The USPS has "today" to win my affection, despite Jose's praise of them in yesterday's posts.

My first Deep Discount package still has not arrived.  I got my shipping notice the morning of July 16.  Of course, if one were to put a fine point on it (and I don't think for one moment there aren't one or two of you who would do that if I didn't do it first!), the shipping suggests 5-10 business days is the norm for packages to arrive.

Well, first, I've never gotten anything from them in five days.  More often than not, it's later rather than sooner.  And I don't understand that since several DRs here indicate they get their packages within a week.

I'm obviously located in a postal hub to hell.
