This past Memorial Day, we went walking in a cemetery, and this is what we saw:

We finished up at the Westchester County 9/11 monument.  Around the base, there is a plaque for each Westchester County resident who perished in 9/11, designed individually by their family and friends.  It is quite moving. It is illuminated at night, and you can also walk inside it.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And shortly after my last post last night, I ended up falling asleep on the couch here, and then moving to the bed a few hours later.  Yep, Uncle Jojo slept in.  :)

I'm still thinking about heading down to Miami today, but the next Tri-Rail train I could catch would not be until 12:45, so...  We shall see.  I may just take the trip down to watch the scenery as it passes by, then take the next train back up. Or I may go see "Wall-E" this afternoon.  ???

Nice photos, DR Singdaw. I also enjoy cemeteries, as long as I don't know anyone there.

Give yourself permission to dance the night away or enjoy a romantic interlude as the Moon forms a supportive, 60-degree embrace with Venus (9:59PM PDT). If you are flying solo tonight and partnership is not an option, the monthly lunar union to Pallas (exact at 2:23AM PDT tomorrow) can offer you brainstorms and insights galore. Enjoy working on crossword puzzles, hobbies or crafts like needlepoint, sewing and quilt-making.

My guess is that I will be making a quilt tonight.

Hmmm... Creative mischief or a crossword.... I shall have to ponder that for a wee bit.

Good morning!

We're into summer mode in full force here in NC. Very hot, humid, a chance of thundershowers most afternoons, etc. I already wish it were fall!

If the Criterion discs don't come today, I'll be forced to proceed with my July 8th releases beginning with the horror film THE RUINS. Both of those Criterions come out on the 1st, so if they don't come today, I suspect I'll miss street date through no fault of my own.

My former partner Steven made the absolute best lasagna that I have ever tasted. I don't know his secret. I never watched him prepare it, and he's gone to a higher reward now so there's no way to get the recipe, but it was something very, very special.

This afternoon I'll likely watch more MURDER SHE WROTE as I cook and eat lunch. I suspect I'll need to wait until tonight to start THE RUINS so I can better assess the black levels of the transfer in a completely darkened room.

And I do have the GLAAD Awards to watch, too, at some point but probably not today. THE RUINS has a fair number of bonus features on it (plus a commentary) so I suspect it will take my evening tonight to go through everything.

Singdaw, neat pictures...

I also find cemeteries rather interesting. When I visited Boston some years ago. Several friends and I went to Salem to see the cemetery and do a bit of exploration. Dusk was falling when we went to teh cemetery and I was studying one of the tombstones when a freind  came up from behind and said boo! I jumped three feet literally. I was already a tad skittish after they told me it was haunted and the hobgoblins would come out at night.

Needless to say they got a good laugh out of it. It is rather humorous when you look back on it.

I do recommend the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem.

Guess I'll head down now and check the mail before thinking about what I'm going to fix for lunch.
