Well, you've read the notes, the notes were filled with melon ball references, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently eating MOOlon Balls.

Re: The discovery of the uncut print of Metropolis.

The quality of the print unfortunately is not pristine. I have seen some captures from it and it will need a lot of cleaning up. I don't think that it will match the quality of the current version.

I have the KINO DVD release which I think is the most recent one.

Here is a link to an article with captures from the lost footage.

http://www.zeit.de/online/2008/27/metropolis-vorab-englisch?page=all

and this one has more captures from the lost footage

It is hard to choose a favorite.

Comedies:
Chaplin, Keaton, Laurel & Hardy, Keystone Cops so many others.

Dramas
Metropolis, Nosferatu, Das Cabinet des Dr, Caligari

To call these German Silent Films just doesn't sound right.

How about Silent Films from Germany?

There is also the first film (and the last film) to win an Academy Award for "Artistic Quality of Production"  Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans

Wings

The sad thing about most of the films from the silent era is that they no longer exist.

I wonder if anyone actually reads what I have to say. If you are reading this post and not skipping over it; please quote this post and I will donate $1.00 for everyone who does so to a local charity. (HHW regulars only and 1 quote per person. Maximum of $35.00 dollars)

And the word of the day is: PEREGRINE!
The PEREGRINE King Pellinore spent his entire life in the pursuit of a RIPE GREEN Questing Beast.

Der Brucer isn't fond of silent films, mainly because they weren't made in color.

I'm here working away because I'm leaving early for the holiday. At about 2:30 I'm off to Long Island until Sunday evening. I'll be in and out but mostly out.

Later, gaters.

For reasons tough to explain, , I can't quote Michael S's post, but does referring to it get the $1 for charity as well?

Ah, yes. I forgot to add my good wishes to a great couple, the soon-to-be-wed, David and Jayson!

If it ever comes to pass in New York, there may be another couple that will join you in the Married Column.

Good morning, all! Around 5:15 this morning, I had fnished everything but haro and celesta, so I decided to crash for a while.  Around 5:30 the apartment ghost did its appearance and my computer burst into life and freaked me out.  Around 7:30 I had a horrible charley horse in my left calf and now I am out of ed and rady to finish the final two orchestra parts.
