They have added a new wrinkle to the Tacoma Freedom Fair, which takes place tomorrow right down the hill from me on the waterfront (A Kazan reference).  The City of Destiny has given permission for the Air Force fighter jets to practice their flyovers this afternoon, with a rather thunderous reaction.  Tomorrow I am sure that they will get a wonderful ovation for the flyover, today's only reaction was the cats both flipping them a paw.

I looked into what's left of the butterfly garden, and this is what I saw:

I told someone once that I missed my dog, and he brought me a puppy.

I'm sure his intentions were good.  What did you do with the puppy?

I declined it; he gave it to his mother. It was shy. I saw it recently. Not very social. A rottweiler-chow mix, I think.

Its littermate, however, is very social.

Thanks for all the 80th birthday wishes for my Mom.

The birthday do was quite lovely, and my mom had more lobster than she could eat (meaning she was able to take some home despite being quite full).

Some more Emmy semifinalist lists:

Guest Drama Actors:

Keith Carradine, Dexter
Charles Durning, Rescue Me
Danny Glover, Brothers & Sisters
Robert Morse, Mad Men
Peter O'Toole, The Tudors
Oliver Platt, Nip/Tuck
Peter Riegert, Damages
Stanley Tucci, ER
Glynn Turman, In Treatment
Robin Williams, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit

When I saw Peter O'Toole's billing as "Special Guest Star" in the credits for THE TUDORS, I knew then we'd be seeing his name in this list. I'll bet he wins, too. Frankly, of the seven on the list I've seen, I wouldn't give it to any of them.

I think Stanley Tucci deserves an Emmy just for breathing.

Thanks for posting the actresses yesterday, MattH, and for the episodes, DerB. The CLOSER episode Kyra was nominated for (MANHUNT) was my favorite of the season---it had everything, and was a great showcase for her talents.

Oh, and congrautlations to Holly Hunter, too, even though I'm not a fan of the show....

David and Jayson will very soon be legally wed in the State of California.

I met David (singdaw) today at his hotel and we window-shopped around Union Square and down Maiden Lane.  While there, we picked out some jewelry for our moms, gaped at some stoves in Williams-Sonoma, oohed-and-aahed at many delectables inside Gump's (including a vase that could pay for a  full set of porcelain veneers, and various/assorted china and silver patterns), stood speechless at the windows of Christofle's and at Bacarat's, and generally had a nice time of dashing here and there.

Then we picked up Jayson and went to "David's" delicatessen across the street from San Francisco's Curran Theater.  We each had the special -- hot pastrami on rye.  Singdaw also had a sampling of the house chicken liver and Jayson was all over a side of garlic-dill pickles.  For dessert, we each had something.  I don't know what David and Jayson shared -- something chocolate with some white fluffy stuff on it.  I had a peach shortcake-type of dessert only because they were out of the strawberry.

It was fun, it was mad, it was borderline PC and we shared many laughs.  The forum was spoken of fondly and considerately.

I had a marvelous time....and then, it was all-too-soon over and we had to part as Singdaw and Jayson needed to be on their way by 3 p.m.

They are very delightful in person and a charming couple.

Dang, the cruise lines must already be taking a hit from the high fuel prices.  I just got an offer for a 14 night cruise on Celebrity Cruise Lines from Auckland to Sydney including round trip air, starting at $2,799.00 per person.
