Thank you for the report, Ron. It sounds like you all had a good time.
I believe we did, indeed. I didn't want to be late meeting singdaw, but my caution got me into the city an hour earlier than our ageed-upon meet time (noon). Earlier this week, we thought we were going to meet as early as 10 a.m., and I was gonna
schlep singdaw over toward Pier 39 and then up the hill to climb Coit Tower. After that, I was gonna
schlep him into North Beach to see what remains of the Italian influence there. But, alas, 'twas not to be. Singdaw had himself booked on a tour of a museum, so our
schlepping time was curtailed. At lunch, Singdaw expressed some relief over the fact that we hadn't, in fact, done any more
schlepping than we did in that hour before lunch.
It's just as well, too, 'cause the way my dogs are barking right now, I can say I did enough for one day. The newlyweds have all day tomorrow to explore the city of San Francisco. They have a car, too, in case they want to hop over to Sausalito or somewhere else in Marin County.
In the hour I had before meeting Singdaw, I went to Rasputin (a store similar to Amoeba) and shopped the used CDs. I hadn't planned on doing it. I, in fact, told myself I would not do it. But nothing passes time as quickly as shopping, and CDs are appealing. I walked out with a bag full...four multi-CD sets of operas, including three Philips label Bohm-conducted "Ring" sets (Siegfried, Die Walkyrie & Gotterdammerung) ($12.95 each). And for $9.95, I found a like-new "Turandot" -- Sutherland/Pavorotti/Mehta. It's an extra for me, and will be a gift, someday, for someone I think might enjoy it as much as I do. There were several used movie score-related CDs, too, all in the $4.95 range.
All in all, it was an hour well-spent and a good augury for the next three delightful hours.
