A fun summer blockbuster movie. Actually, we were a little disappointed, not that I was expecting it to be a good as Iron Man. There were only about 10 other people in the theater with us, all much younger than we are.

The reviews of Wall-E are excellent & I expect those along with word of mouth will draw attention to the film. Before today I had no interest in seeing it.

Well, we had excitement in a major way tonight. I was getting ready to go to Paul's party at Stone State Park when I noticed that a line of storms was headed this way, so I figured I'd wait until the storms passed through then I'd go to the park.

Suddenly, the TV announcer said "TORNADO WARNING" If you are in the Sioux City metro take cover NOW a tornado has been reported near Stone State Park !!!

Good Evening!

I LOVE NEW YORK CITY!!!!

It turned out to be quite a nice afternoon. Cloudy, but still bright. Warm, but not hot. And the humidity seemed to be in check too.

I ended up heading down to MoMA to check out the new exhibits. There are some truly fascinating exhibitions right now, but if I had to suggest a particular one to anyone right now it would be Dali: Painting and Film. A true WOW!!!!!

Each room of the gallery features a different film that Salvador worked on in some form or another. There are projectors and a small sitting area set up in each room, and the films and/or clips run in continuous loops. Around each room are production stills, story boards and various paintings inspired by each film.

The dream sequence from "Spellbound" is featured, as well as some Dali's own film "experiments". However, the highlight for me was a seven-minute "Fantasia"-like film called, "Destino". Dali was approached by Walt Disney to make this film, but after various complications only 18 seconds were completed. However, a few years ago, the team at Disney completed the film using the storyboards that Dali had completed along with the memory of the Disney studio artist, John Hench. It's supposed to be released this fall on DVD as part of a new Disney Treasures tin. *It was also shown with the original theatrical release of "Triplets of Bellville".

The galleries were packed this afternoon - and a bit noisy. I will have to go back again when it is, hopefully, quieter, and sit and absorb all the images.

But again... WOW!

*And the exhibit runs through September 15, so there's still plenty of time to catch it.

YIKES!!!! I didn't expect this, so I didn't have the cats ready to go. I grabbed both of them and tried to get the radio. They were having no part of that and scratched the heck out of my arm trying to get away from me, which they succeded in doing. So, I was able to get Callie and put her in her carrier and get her to the basement. But Boo took off and ran upstairs and was playing hide and seek

I'm back from Long Island and the cell phone is charging. I will unplug it tomorrow morning when I wake up to go to work. I will also take it with me to the office and activate the little bugger.

We had a very nice 4th on Long Island. It would have been nice to stay another day or two but that's not possible. Oh, well.

I nearly had a panic attack. I discovered that yes, I will risk a lot to get that little poop. Anyway, I finally got her and was practically hyperventilating as I got her to the basement. Stone Park is less than a mile or two from here as the crow flies, so if it was there, there was a chance it was coming here.

I have a TV down the basement so I sat with the cats for about 1/2 hour until there was an all clear. By that time we had all calmed down and the cats were very happy to leave their carriers.

Then I went to Stone Park to the party. The damage on the way wasn't too bad, just some branches and trees down. But man there was a lot of dirt and rock that had washed across the road. When I got to the party, I learned that the ranger had come to the lodge and made everyone go in the ladies room. One person was alert enough to grab 5 gallons of sangria. Another refused to go in the bathroom...he's just like that. I guess it was pretty exciting, but they didn't see any tornados.

After I left MoMA, I walked up Fifth Avenue, then walked over to Broadway. It was a great afternoon for wandering.

I ended up grabbing a bit to eat at Nanoosh[/color]. -I think DR Jane would love this place.

Then I walked a few more blocks up Broadway, and picked up a few bottles of wine - some summery whites - at Bacchus[/color].

Then, since I was just a few blocks away, I stopped into Levain for a Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookie.
