re: youtube

Does anyone here know why they would remove one specific poster's videos of THE Search For Elle Woods?

This person was the best poster.

Split it into 6 parts.

And now every video that poster ever uploaded is gone.

:(

The most obvious guess is copyright violation, which is the major crime of the internet.

It's supposed to be hot and muggy today. I turned on the air conditioner last night. Global warming? I'd rather live in the snow than the heat. That's why I can't retire to Arizona or Florida (sorry Kerry, Laura and Lyn and Michael Shayne and Danise).
Yes, but it's a dry heat.  Remember?   ;)

Symphony-wise, my favorite is Rachmaninov's Symphony Number 2.  I also love Mahler's 6th, most of Vaughn-Williams, Walton's symphonies, all of Hanson, the symphonies and piano concerto of Robert Ward.  I'm very partial to English and American music.

I also like the symphonies of Japan's Ikuma Dan.

Someone sent me a Page once.  He was kind of cute, but that constant heralding got to be a nuisance after a while.
I'd find the haircut a turn-off.   :P

Are you meaning that the quality was too good?

Anyhow, i still don't get why it was taken down. And others weren't.

If mtv would just allow canadians to watch mtv.com i would not have to watch on youtube. :(

I find it especially odd since mtv.com shares programming with mtv.ca.
Apparently the show may start airing in canada on much music aug 17th. That's what i was told.

I just wanna see episode 6. :(
So if anybody at equity is reading this, there is one major theatre fan who just want to see the next show.  ANd i actually like it. And i'm actually posting good things about it!

As for the quality being too good, well, that's a possibility.  His clips could have also been flagged due to the number of views he was getting.

As for why or why not a clip gets taken down, well... ???

And as for pleading to AEA (Equity), you will also have to plead your case to the stagehands union, the musicians union, the dressers union, and so on and so forth.

I'm sorry that MTV Canada is not carrying the show, but, alas, that's what you get for living in Canada.  ;)

*And just remember:  Would you be OK with someone - or a slew of someones - posting your picture/image/movie/show all over the place without your pemission and/or knowledge?  And suppose you had written a script or a song, would you want that to be "shared" with everyone without any sort of monetary renumeration?

-Besides, I'm sure there is some sort of not too complicated work around to see the clips on MTV's US website on your side of the border.  ;)

Good Morning, Ginny!  To answer your question from some time, yes, I broke my right ankle this time, so you and I could be a whole person (kind of like DRLaura and I each have half a brain:  together we make up a whole brain).

As far as getting from one room to another, I am lucky in that I live in a flat, first floor, one floored space.  Sometime ago, the errant and truant DRMusicGuy and I used to live in a house that no matter which room you entered, you had to go up or down two steps.  We learned the pitfalls of this when I dislocated my knee one summer.   Later when our Basset Hound got hip dysplasia, I knew just how much trouble she had with those steps.  Since then, the house we had after that was just one level as is my current apartment and his current condo.  We may not have learned much in 20 years, but we learned that.  We have great friends in the midwest who have a 3 or 4 story house (which is quite lovely) but the stairs are beginning to prove quite the problem now that these guys are not the perpetually young guys they still are in my head.

Was there some reason my post #410 yesterday was disqualified?

"John Roebling, designer of the Brooklyn Bridge (and its precursor the Roebling Suspension Bridge over the Ohio River in Cincinnati - the one in the opening credits of WKRP in Cincinnati)"

It wasn't disqualified.  I typed in the wrong first name, is all.  My bad.

Hi, DR Kerry!  OK, I'm ready for the sack race!

Your comments last night about watching The King and I with a broken ankle reminded me of how I felt watching gymnastics trials two weeks ago.  Every time someone landed, my foot throbbed.

Our house is a 2-story, but we pretty much live on the first floor, so I've also been pretty content.  My only challenge is getting down 2 steps into our family room when I want a change of scenery and down the next 2 steps when I need to get to the car.  Actually, down isn't too bad, but up still isn't pretty.

I believe you've gotten several reasonable and rational responses.  Whether you accept them or not is up to you.  My recommendation, however, is to contact the management of youtube and ask them why they took the clips down rather than belabor the point here where no one can help you.

I think I'll avoid watching anything by Fosse for awhile or the barn-raising dance from "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers"!!!!!

Is anyone going to the store to buy the Mamma Mia! soundtrack today?  :)

I pre-ordered mine with the DVD of Kiss of the Spider Woman, which isn't due to be released until July 22nd, so I don't think the CD will arrive today.  I knew that when I ordered it. :)

Well, I'm leaving in 15 minutes to start my new job.  I really hope it goes well and that I like it and that it is not too difficult to learn.  We shall see.  Anyhow, just wanted to hop on and say hi.  Will let you all know how the new job is going tonight.  Everyone have a great day!  TOP: Beethoven's 5th

Thanks for the vibes for the show, fellow HHW'ers.  I feel somewhat optimistic about tonight....but I am sure that will change when I get there.

Tonight is a dress rehearsal/family night so that family members can come and take photos and see the show....such as it is.

I am sure I will get an earful of "helpful suggestions" afterwards.  One of the reasons I never give it unless asked, is that I know how I feel about it when I am directing.  It has been my experience that the Director knows exactly what is wrong....thank you very much.

Der B and I had a very nice time at the Farmer's Market today.  We scored some lovely ripe tomatoes, some leeks, zucchini, carrots, beets, peaches, and mushrooms (oyster, shiitake, and creminis).

Then we went to the store, where I bought some shrimp.

The eatings in Rehoboth Beach are going to be fine indeed over the next few days.

DR JENNIFER a protest about a clip would be about that particular clip on YOU TUBE and not ALL clips on the same subject or with the same material.

Since the poster lost ALL of her/his clips, he probably had been warned at least once and asked to remove the clips, and when that didn't happen, action was taken.

Most of the material from movies/tv/stage on YOUTUBE belongs to somebody, or many somebodies....and those broadcast rights are controlled and protected.

Of course Copland's QUIET CITY was written for play starring Miss Frances Farmer.  It lasted a whopping two performances.  ;)

On the other hand, der Brucer and I have come to a rather dangerous agreement.

It's time for me to start driving again.

I have very happily not been a driver since before der B and I coupled.  I have some problems with my depth perception, and simply do not trust myself behind the wheel of any vehicle.

But that attitude is about to come to an end.  The simple fact is, der B isn't as happy behind the wheel as he used to be.  In fact, it wears him out a lot faster now than it used to.  And, since we're no longer in the chaos that is the Los Angeles Freeway System (and surface street mania), a lot of the reasons behind my pavement panic should not come into play.

So, be glad none of you are in Delaware.  If you were, the kook driving the car next to yours could well be me!

No, DR George. You've already sent me the movie soundtrack (some years ago). I think it was DR Ron Pulliam who wanted the movie soundtrack.

Thanks for the clarification.
