DR JOSE it is too bad you couldn't hang in there until the VBS Talent Day, I am sure your dance to the soundtrack of Flower Drum Song would have wowed the crowd as much as it did the nuns at your school!

Well we open tonight, and I made a mistake last night.  The cast had a terrible time struggling to make the show work because one actor doesn't know his lines and doesn't follow his blocking, and makes long self indulgent pauses....and starts every line with another character's name because while he tries to remember what he is supposed to say.

SO - after trying to deal with him privately, I felt I had to talk to the group as a group and called him out on his NOT LEARNING HIS LINES the way he promised he would, NOT following the blocking - I told him I was the director and he was to do it the way I told him, not the way he wanted to, that he left too many people standing around waiting for him to talk...they gave him time....but he never picked up the lines.

It was a terrible way to end the rehearsal period, and go into the opening, and now I am sorry I did it....

So there you are.  I don't know what will happen.  He got up and ran out the back door after the notes....didn't speak to anyone.  And I have heard nothing from anyone this morning....although most of us talked briefly before breaking up.....

Terrible situation.  Directors, if you think you should can someone during rehearsals - do it.  Don't wait....do it.  Otherwise these are your shoes, and they are very uncomfortable.

So now DR SINGDAW has seen both A RAGE TO LIVE and ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN.  I think that is an inspiring a double bill as I have heard of.

I hope he didn't get them mixed up while he was watching them.

And yes my quote is from AOTFFW....poor Nancy.

I am happy that HHW is adding the cultural awareness of its denizens.  Where else on all the inner nit?

Good morning!

Argh! It cooled down wonderfully last night so I opened everything up, but I forgot to put enough time on the attic fan timer, and at some point during the night it cut off allowing the house to heat back up a bit to uncomfortable levels. I turned it back on when I got up and got the house temperature down a degree or two, but a few minutes ago, I just went downstairs, closed everything up, and turned on the A/C. And it popped right on.

Today I'll be watching COLLEGE ROAD TRIP. There are two audio commentaries and a bunch of other bonus features (though I don't know how long each lasts). The movie is only 83 minutes long, so I'm not sure if I can do it all in one day or not. We'll see.

I one of those few folks who finds more to like than dislike about the movie version of MAN OF LA MANCHA. No, not perfect by a long shot, but it's more faithful to the stage version than something like A CHORUS LINE is, and I can find pleasure watching it.

As I've been trumpeting all week, tonight is the second season premiere of BURN NOTICE on USA. It comes on at 10 p.m.

FEAR ITSELF is not on tonight (an extended version of LAST COMIC STANDING preempts it).

Tonight's episode of SWINGTOWN introduces the bisexual character into the mix as we find out that Grant Show's character and his wife both sleep with the same man. I'm going to record it just to see how that scenario is treated. I haven't been watching the series otherwise.

And I believe MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST is also on tonight, but I'll have to check to make sure. I know after two weeks of the Thursday evening telecast being hounded by audio telecast problems, I will wait and record an early morning rebroadcast.

For some reason the critics and I don't agree:

ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE

TARZAN AND KING KONG

EARTH VS THE SPIDER

MURDER IN THE BLUE ROOM

JAPANESE WAR BRIDE

Well...and just about every other movie that I love.
