Speaking of roses, there is a HyVee in my parent's town. My mother has been hinting to my dad that the roses there are cheap this week. She finally got tired of hinting and when he asked if she needed anything at the store today she said "Yes, a dozen roses". He figured it out and she was very happy to have them. The 50 cents per rose goes for 3 more days, but I think I'm done. 3 dozen is enough.

There are fireworks going off for the annual Rivercade festival. I live miles and miles away but can still hear them quite clearly.

No hidden agenda at all. I was just curious. When I was younger, I had thought about having my appendix removed just so I would not be potentially troubled with it later. (My mother had hers burst on her while she was in college.) But I never did it.

I got all of the bonuses on the second disc in the VAMPYR set watched. They included a documentary made in 1966, a video essay on the film (very good), and a radio speech on simplicity in film delivered by Dreyer in 1958 (very dry and a bit dull).

Dreyer did say that in his estimation, color was completely misused in most color films made, and that there were only two or three color films that had ever used color correctly, the best being GATES OF HELL.

I pulled out THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT on Blu-ray disc and watched that tonight for my fun movie of the evening. The hit and miss quality of the film clips in TE really shows up in high definition.

And I ended my evening with tonight's season premiere of PROJECT RUNWAY.

Some interesting creations, some very pretty indeed. And I had no problem at all with the judges' decision about the losing design. It was certainly the one I liked least.

Tomorrow I'm going to start on that TRANSFORMERS box set though I'm thinking now I won't get through the entire thing before I have to put it aside and do at least two other films: HIGH AND LOW from Criterion and THE SCORPION KING on Blu-ray.

DS Betsy's brother edited next Tuesday's episode of L&O (which I assume is an SVU--we don't watch that franchise). He has been a trailer editor for years, mostly Pixar and Disney stuff, though he had a couple of major features to his credit, but I think maybe this is his first tv episode.

That likely won't last long. At this point, I don't think I'll ever get my stack down to nothing. By the time I get to the last item, three new things will come in from various places. Right now, I already know in August I'll have four TV box sets from CBS Paramount alone including DEXTER and NCIS (that doesn't count whatever MTV, Comedy CEntral, BET or Logo stuff they send), three Criterions, two or three Disney Blu-rays (including the Miley Cyrus concert and NIXON).

Well, since there isn't very many pages of posts. I'll ramble for a minute or so. Today, I started sifting through my clothes, getting rid of what I don't wear and can't wear *never mind*

and figuring out the clothes I can wear and what needs to be washed. Trying to prepare for the New York trip.

Watched a couple of Law & Orders I had recorded I hadn't seen. Met a friend for lunch I use to work with. Went to Peemkaew's in NW Portland. Delicious Pineapple Rice with Chicken! Could only eat half.

BTW, it is a Thai restaurant. Came home and crashed on the couch for about an hour. Haven't been sleeping so hot lately, actually it has been getting better. Then sorted clothes a little more and picked up sister from work as I am on the look out for permanent job and obviously not working currently. I did drop off a big garbage bag of clothes at Goodwill too.

Except that we don't have reviewers assigned to certain studios, like you do. Some stuff is assigned to us, other stuff we get to choose, and I must admit I have probably been choosing too much stuff recently, I've felt overwhelmed at times. So I think I'll cut back--at least until I see some *really* good stuff in the screener pool, LOL.
