I enjoyed the Penn & Teller clips. I saw Randall Moldave's name in the credits. I swear I have met him in a previous life---just can't remember where!

Saturday night there is a free concert version of SIDESHOW here at Morningside college.  Bill Russell, the book writer, graduated from Morningside, so he's coming here to do a free performance.  Think I'll try to go. What can anyone tell me about it - I know the story but don't know much about the musical

I love love love this musical.

I saw it on broadway with Emily Skinner and Alice Ripley.

At the time i didn't really know much about it. But i was totally blown away, especially by their performances.

It is a really good show (IMO) and i would definitely go if you can.

So I could begin and end my evening properly, I began my evening viewing with another episode of BURN NOTICE. This is actually the two-part season one finale, and I watched the first half of that - up to the point where someone important got killed. I'll finish the episode tomorrow while I cook and eat lunch.

I then watched 9 episodes of TRANSFORMERS. That made 16 episodes watched today, and that leaves me with 36 more to watch.

It's serialized, and yet a child COULD sit down with any episode and be fairly into the story, especially if he went in knowing the identities of the Transformer Autobots et al.

But I will be glad to be done with this.

While waiting for tonight's new episode of BURN NOTICE to come on, I flipped around the dial. I watched some wrestling on Spike TV. I saw a bit of THE PEOPLE AGAINST O'HARA on TCM. I saw a little L&O: SVU on USA.

Nothing caught my attention long enough to make me stay on that channel.

Tonight's BURN NOTICE was another entertaining episode, but there were THREE plots going at the same time. Boy, does this show multitask or what?

Well, I slept poorly last night, so I'm heading down now and giving it another try tonight.

Good night!

Yesterday MATTH asked [I have a question. It's a bit personal, but since folks do talk about their health here, I figure it's OK.

Who here has had your appendix removed at some point in your life?

I haven't. In fact, the only operation I've ever had (so far) was at age five having my tonsils removed.

I had my appendix out when I was 10 - and my thyroid went when I was 32, but I still have my tonsils!

The music to SIDE SHOW is by Henry Krieger, who composed the music for DREAMGIRLS.

As for DR MattH's medical inquiry...

I still have my tonsils and my appendix - as well as my thyroid.  In fact, besides two visits to the ER, I've never been admitted to a hospital or stayed overnight in one either... And I've never broken a bone... And I've never had a cavity.  :)

As for the Topic of the Day...

I remember sharing that huge and heavy(!) Radio Shack/Tandy computer with the dual 5-1/4" disk drives.  -Strangely enough, the only thing I really remember about using that computer was a feature of the desk it sat on/in.  The instructions mentioned something neither my cousin and I had ever heard of, and we were not quite sure at the time what its function was: a modesty panel.

I believe the first home computer my family owned was a Commodore 64.  And then some computer we bought at Sears, a "fast" 256K deal.  ;)

co-majored in computer science in college (late 1970's) and remember having to type in programming info on punch cards, one line at a time, and if you made a typo, you had to type the card again.  I could program fluenty in four "computer languages" - PL1, cobol, pascal and assembler - but now I'm stymied if my computer even freezes; I had a knack for the programming, but not the computer installation and maintenance (which many insist is the comparatively easy part) for some reason.

During my first summer working at Coast Guard HQ, one of my duties was preparing records of enlisted personnel that had retired and/or died.  Once the documents were all gathered and collated, the last step was to process a punch card with their pertinent information before they got sent off to the storage facility in Kansas City.  We always had to be very careful when it came to entering the Social Security numbers of any deceased personnel since our records database was directly tied into the IRS and other government databases.  In other words, a slip of the finger could have "killed" someone.

As for today's announcement of the Emmy nominations...  I happened to catch them during "The Today Show"...

I LOVED the "chemistry" between Kristen Chenoweth and Neil Patrick Harris.  Their commentary and banter was quite entertaining.  And I also liked how there were surprised by the announcement of their own nominations for Best Supporting Actor/Actress in a Comedy Series.

-And Kristen Chenoweth dated Jeff Probst... Who knew? ;D

So, my Friday and Saturday nights in NY are covered, somewhere to stay-wise - anyone got any bright ideas for Thursday?  I really don't want the boys to have to pay some huge hotel bill for one night.  Can someone please check around?  I've been asking for a week now and not one person has responded on this board.

bk - I've looked, but never came up with anything reasonably priced.

Can't you have your 'assistant' out there in L.A. do some Googling and checking for you?  ;)

And now that I've help retain my average daily post count, it's time for me to head to bed.  I was out and up late last night, and woke up early this morning, so... Sleep would be a good thing.

Goodnight.

There was only one person whose name wasn't in the credits - some other name was there listed as "actor" and it wasn't mine.  I'm really annoyed about it and have told David Wechter who will check up on it for me.  They have to fix it for any reruns and for the DVD of this season.  And I'll be calling AFTRA because I want to make sure my residuals are paid - if I'm not billed I don't know that they would be.

Oh...

I also tried one of Starbucks' new "healthy smoothies" this morning, a Banana-Chocolate Vivanno Nourishing Blend.  -They're introducing them in Florida... I think I'll stick with Jamba Juice.

I must apologize, yesterday my dear friend Tomovoz sent me a lovely photo of DD Magnus on his last morning on earth.  he asked me to post it for him, because he didn't know how to downsize the photo.  I told him that I would, but I failed to do so.

So, at long last, a beuatiful photo of Tom and Colin's much loved Magnus.

What a precious darling...
