I've jogged, I've played, I've had a nice telephonic conversation with someone I haven't spoken to in many years, and like that there.

Next, I watched 9 more episodes of TRANSFORMERS. That makes 25 episodes watched. Only 27 more to go!

I have to say in this disc of episodes I watched this afternoon, there was less fighting and more story which I was much more interested in. The constant clash of the titans gets REALLY OLD after a few dozen episodes.

I concluded my afternoon with today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Just a little bit with Luke and Noah, but a lot with Luke and his parents. I can understand his anger and sense of hurt, but didn't his mother do exactly the same thing with Dusty a few months ago?

(I'm only asking; I fast forward through all that stuff.) Previews for next week directly address the question of the guys finally talking about consummating their relationship.

I like the NYMF folk, and the show is in dire need of an MD ASAP. I had recommended our DR JoseS, but I don't think he's interested.  The meeting went well, I think. I forgot, however, the package I had meant to post so I have a trip to the local post office in the next 30 minutes.

That means I can stop at the market along the way and buy something for din.

Tonight on TV:

Season premieres for MONK and PSYCH.

Monk's getting a new analyst (Hector Elizando), so that will be at least something different for the show, and I'll record it.

PSYCH, I'll watch "live."

DR Matt, I could just KISS you! MMMMuuuuwwwaaahhh!   I love these two shows and did not know they were going to have new ones yet until I read your post and I've already set them up to record!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  ;D

Nothing, so far, in the news regarding Jo Stafford, yet I keep reading “Barenaked Ladies cancel Disney show after drug rap”  Before today I had never heard of Barenaked Ladies & I find it difficult to imagine Disney hired a group with such a scandalous name. :o ;D

TOD:  I actually just got Sheryl Crow's newest album, Detours, so am listening to that intermingling with India.Arie's Acoustic Soul album.
DVD:  Good Luck, Chuck - just watched the other day.  Really a pretty good flick.
VCR: Watching "The Heiress" in the next couple of days.

Yesterday's TOD:  WANG - I believe DR JMK mentioned this.  I was in college at the time.  Looking back, wow, what a dinosaur!

Speaking of Streisand, I played the fancy Jewish retirement home here in Portland last night (there's kind of a down in the dumps, one, too, which I also play--strangely it's right across the street from the nice one), and some nice old lady requested "Evergreen."  Hadn't played/sung that in a long time, was fun to revisit it.  I had to LOL when I first came in--another nice old lady screamed out, "What did you say your name was?" (I hadn't).  I told her, and she said "Hoffman?  Hoffman?"  I repeated my name a little louder and she announced to the assemblage, "Oh, well that's a nice Jewish name."  ;)

That is totally hysterical...I love it! I could just see your face when she said that!  ;D

What makes youthink they don't talk to me?  I remembert  well the conversations ihad with the people I met (as opposed to the people who wrote to me).

I just weighed myself for the first time in two weeks and I am NOT happy.  I've lost exactly one and a half pounds in two weeks and that is OUTRAGEOUS.  I am eating under 1500 calories a day, sometimes considerably so.  I am running every single day and I am also walking a mile in the evenings.  Two years ago I did this exact same thing and I lost about seven or eight pounds in two weeks, which is how I lost twenty-seven pounds in three months.  The only change I have made to my dieting this time around is drinking two bottles of water a day - if that's what's causing this to be this slow, then I am done with the water, which I hate anyway.  I really thought I'd lost five or six pounds but clearly I am living in a fool's paradise and I am seething right now.

From being a full-figured gal, I understand this.  Even though your body may look the same to you, your metabolism could be different now than it was 2 years ago.  Don't give up though.  Do you eat every 2 to 3 hours?  Even if it's something healthy, the more often you eat your metabolism will speed up.  Maybe you already knew this, if so, never mind! :)

It's quite warm today, around 94  degrees F. On my walk to the Post office, I had a major nostalgia blast, prompted much like Proust's madeleine. First I was walking home from school, probaby around 1960, through wildflowers, queen anne's lace, sunflowers  and weeds all about my height or a little shorter, with butterflies frolicking, bees and yellow jackets buzzing around lazily, lots of grasshoppers leaping about and praying mantises hanging off stalks to grab some food passing by. The sound of insects was quite noisy and a desire to lie down and watch the clouds float by very intense.

Then I was 5, around 1951, sitting on the lawn in the shade of my grandmother's back porch, with the odor of dried wood drifting from the garage, the sunlight glaring from the hood of the old truck parked next to the barn, and watching my mother fill the wading pool. I can hear the squeak of the screendoor and sounds of the family in the kitchen, the scrape of gravel in the alley behind the barn, and a desire for ice cream or a cold root beer.

And then I arrived at the post office.

I'm getting sentimental in my old age.

Dear Bruce, when you eat only one meal a day your body thinks it needs to protect you from starving & your metabolism slows down.  I assure you the water is not causing this.  We could get away with this when we were young, it doesn't work as well anymore.

I'm happy if I was of some help.

Many folks around here adore PSYCH, so mentioning it was a no-brainer.

MONK ardor has cooled for many here including me. I still watch it hoping they'll fashion a good mystery story every once in awhile. I admire Tony Shalhoub as an actor a lot, but he's taken Monk to such a surreal place now that it's sometimes more irritating than enjoyable to watch him.

Off now to continue with TRANSFORMERS.

If I get a free 40 minutes, I'd like to rewatch this week's season premiere of THE CLOSER just to see my Jason O'Mara again. I'be kept it on the DVR just for that reason.

I have never bought this one meal a day and your metabolism slows down because it things you're starving business.  I may eat one nice-sized meal a day, but I'm not starving, and I do have things like no-fat low-cal fruit popsicles later in the evening.  And it's not like I didn't do this exact same regimen two years ago and I know exactly what I lost per week during that diet period.  This is extremely frustrating.  I'm going to keep running because I feel better for having jogged, but I'm not sure I can keep up this staying away from certain foods that I like if I'm not going to see results - that's just too annoying.  This last two weeks has been a total waste for me, diet-wise.  No, I didn't gain, but losing at the rate of a pound and a half every two weeks means I'll be on this diet for over a year before I'm where I want to be - it's never ever taken me more than three to four months to lose exactly what I wanted to lose and that includes two years ago.
