Elan left. I guess he didn't want unsolicited advice.

Ummmm....that "unsolicited" bit is incorrect by default[/i]

Howzzat, you ask?  Default?

Yes!  Default[/b] was Elan's for asking this question:

Hey, Ron! Thanks for the good wishes!

Fatherhood, currently, has only three facets: sheer joy, sheer panic, and sheer exhaustion... Of course, it gets easier as they get older, right?

Right?

The door was opened and we Hainsie/Kimlets just marched right through it!

I love Northern Virginia.  I lived in Arlington for a year and half back in the laste 1970s.  Sure, it got hot, but everything was Air Conditioned!  The Spring and Fall is what made it SO totally worthwhile for me.  Lovely times of year, especially the Fall.

I only have a memory of Chooster in a casket.

Chooster is much lamented. Well, its owner's absence is much missed by me.

As others have stated, JetBlue is hardly the budget airline they started out to be.  As Kevin will tell you, booking my flight cost him over $500.

Now, I must write. Then, I must watch GODSPELL on DVD tonight. A friend is going to audition for a local production of the show and is dropping by to see the movie later.

DP Colin and I enjoyed "The Band's Visit".

I love that non - American films are not frightened of using "silence" in their films.

Not surprising then I guess that "The Passenger" is one of my all time favourites as it has no background soundtrack (except for near the end).

We watched French film "Apres Vous" the other night.  I would think the Adam Sandler or Ben Stiller (maybe together) version would be on the drawing boards by now!

I've been nosing around on lots of fast food sites - very interesting.  When I go to Popeye's I order two mild breasts.  Those are actually not that caloric - 350 each.  The fat grams are high, 20 per, but that's not terrible.  What's terrible are the biscuits - that's what causes all the harm for me: 240 each and 13 grams of fat each - of course, I have to slather them with butter, which makes them more caloric and fat gram-laden than the chicken!

and for DR Elmore.  DRBarnum liked "The Band's Visit" too. Should I worry?

bk - I like New World Stages.  It's a great complex - it used to be known as Dodger Stages.  -In fact, I believe we held a "Hainsie/Kimlet meets Levain Cookies" gathering up on Worldwide Plaza's plaza which is on top of NWS.  It's the complex where Altar Boyz and Naked Boys Singing currently plays among other shows.  None of the theatres are all that large - I think 250 is the largest capacity (maybe 300).  However, lots of special events and fundraisers are held there.  -And they have a great bar/cocktail set-up too.

This is coming up there on August 4!

"VARIATIONS ON SHAKESPEARE" will highlight songs from musicals based on the works of William Shakespeare with performances by some of Broadway's hottest stars! The works of Shakespeare have always served as a true inspiration for many playwrights and composers over the years, with some of the most famous musical theater pieces inspired by the Bard's plays. KISS ME, KATE inspired Cole Porter to transform the classic TAMING OF THE SHREW and gave us such great songs as "Too Darn Hot" and "So In Love." THE COMEDY OF ERRORS was the play that inspired Rodgers and Hart to pen the hit musical THE BOYS FROM SYRACUSE and the most famous musical of them all, WEST SIDE STORY, is a beautiful musical re-telling of ROMEO AND JULIET, set in 1950's New York City.

The evening will be hosted by Tony Award winner MARK RYLANCE, the first Artistic Director of Shakespeare’s Globe in London who is currently treading the boards in the hilarious hit revival of Boeing-Boeing, with appearances and performances by Broadway and TV Star TOM CAVANAGH (TV's Ed, Urinetown, Shenandoah), ANTHONY RAPP (original cast of RENT, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown), Tony Award winner CHRISTIAN HOFF (Jersey Boys, upcoming Pal Joey), Tony Award nominee ALICE RIPLEY (Side Show, Next To Normal), BARRETT FOA (The Drunken City, Avenue Q, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), AUTUMN HURLBERT (MTV Finalist "Legally Blonde: Search for the Next Elle Woods"), Tony Award winner DENIS O'HARE (Sweet Charity, Assassins, Take Me Out), KATE SHINDLE (Legally Blonde, Cabaret, Jekyll and Hyde, and Miss America 1998), DARIUS DE HAAS (Rent, Marie Christine, Kiss of the Spiderwoman), Tony Award nominee MARTHA PLIMPTON (upcoming Pal Joey, Top Girls, Cymbeline, The Coast of Utopia), ALEXANDER GEMIGNANI (Les Miz, Sweeney Todd, Sunday in the Park With George), GARRETT LONG (South Pacific, The Spitfire Grill), and Emmy Award nominee GEORGE WENDT (Norm from "Cheers," Hairspray), with MORE NAMES TO BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY! The evening will be directed by Igor Goldin with musical direction by David Andrews Rogers.

* Please note that all performers are subject to availability.

Attire: casual.
Ticket prices range from $150 (great seats), $100 (good seats), $50 (seats).

A small thing of mashed potatoes and gravy is surprisingly friendly at 130 calories and 4 grams of fat. I totally lay off the potatoes these days, but that's really not bad to get the taste.  Also, the small McDonald's fries are surprisingly not bad either: 230 calories and 11 grams of fat - totally doable on my diet.  Who knew?

We've been listening to the musical "Marguerite" this week.
Downloading a synopsis is a help..

We see the musical on September 12th.

For those who don't know - Music is by Michel Legrand.
