So, all in all, it was a good three days of auditions. I did have quite a nice "highlight" yesterday. A "Broadway veteran" came in to audition for one of the roles; as soon as I saw his picture and resume, I actually got a little star struck. He has been in the original casts of some landmark shows over the past 30 years, and even the production team just marveled at his resume.
He went ahead and brought in one of his signature songs. He was in the ensemble of the original cast of a show, and understudied and eventually took over one of the supporting roles. -And he still had the original copy of the music that he was given almost 30 years ago! It was just soooooo cool playing for him, and it was even cooler when he paid me a very nice compliment after we had finished. -And we had a nice chat today when he came back for his callback too. It was literally like playing for and talking to a bit of "Broadway History" to me.
*And, yes, I am purposely leaving out his name since I feel I would need his permission to post his name on this public site. We were meeting at an audition - a business meeting, as it were - and not at a social gathering. However, I guess I could post the show and the song he sang - sort of. -And the you can Google away to satisfy your curiosity if you so desire. The show (sort of):
The First Lady of Argentina. The song (sort of): "The Tango Singer's Only Hit".
