What did I want to be when I grew up?

An actor.  What else?

After I saw PINOCCHIO (at age 3 or 4) and heard him sing, "Hey diddily dee.  An actor's life for me....", I was hooked.

And, I've guess I've been hooked all my life.

Good morning, all! I think on Monday I will call my doctor and set up a date because the stomach problem continues and I am not amused in the least. Some of it may be guilt at canceling on Matthew at the last minute and my awareness that I need to find something else ASAP to celebrate his birthday. I'm also a bit concerned by the ailment since it could be one of several things that most likely won't perk up my spirits.

I cannot recall if my first career choice was train engineer or magician; I had a major fascination with steam engines as well as a Little Golden Book about them, but around the same time I had a magic obsession and I vaguely recall a magic kit for Christmas.[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]

Good morning!

More cool mornings, more fresh air which I continue to bask in. It's a bit overcast this morning, and I'd love it if we'd have another gentle rain to keep temps low. Otherwise, it's going to get up to the 87 they're forecasting.

Tonight is closing night for SINGIN IN THE RAIN.....the good and the bad and the ugly.  Audiences have been wonderful - last night our best audience got our best performance so far...

I had lost the ring I always wear - just a square silver ring that sparkles in the light.  I didn't have it Thursday night, I was sure I put it in my plastic box with all my other stuff.

Last night we were standing in the lobby during the curtain speech waiting to make our entrances and I was adjusting my lovely black beret - and yes, there was my ring inside my hat!  Voila!

I can't remember a time when I didn't want to be a teacher which is what I trained to be and became. However, I do remember being in awe of the Mouseketeers on THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB and longed to be a TV performer. However, growing up in a small town in the South, it just didn't seem possible, so I took lots of lessons but just for my own amusement.

Almost like my birthday twin, DR JOSE - the first job I wanted was to be the navigator on a rocket ship, study the stars, and figure out how to get to the other planets.

Soon after I decided I wanted to be a writer and then of course A ACTOR!

Saturday morning greetings!  I am at work - an extra Saturday this month - because a grantwriting class from a nearby university visited today for my spiel.  They're gone now and I'll stay for a while to help out in the telephone reference center, where my graduate degree and 35 years of experience are required for looking up phone numbers and horoscopes for our callers  ::).

DR derBrucer,

I don't hold much credence about Warners moving HARRY POTTER to the summer because of EQUUS. He's already played the part to great acclaim and a long run in London, and that didn't seem to stop the last HARRY POTTER from grossing almost a billion dollars worldwide.

The lack of a major tentpole picture for Warners next summer that will in any way match this summer's THE DARK KNIGHT for them is a much more logical reason for the move. Otherwise, their second quarter report next year is going to look SO measly compared to this year's that it might cause a minor tremor in the company's stock.

I'll be continuing THE PRESIDENTS for most of the day today. I will finish up Theodore Roosevelt this afternoon while I eat lunch, and then I'll go right into WOODROW WILSON (which I believe is two discs). I may take a break at some point today and watch last night's MONK.

Sorry about your continuing stomach ailment, DR Elmore. Maybe this weekend will see improvement so that a doctor visit isn't necessary.
