That is very "Music Man"-ish, seemed to work for Harold and Marian

How exactly do all the outsiders come and go while Gilligan and the gang continually remain stranded?

That is explained in each episode.

I believe the majority of ballots that had two votes contained votes for Gore and Buchanan, not Gore and Bush.

You're right! I forgot all about Buchanan.

If Larry Moore had been on that boat, what would his character name have been and what would he have added to the story?

Maestro.

Out of frustration and general crankiness, he would have killed all of the other castaways and so there would have been no show until the episode that Denny Miller appeared as the jungle man, but then that one could not have aired until late night cable TV came into being.

Poor poor Mikey! I wouldn't have killed anyone, but i could certainly have driven them over the edge. As to Mr Miller I think that may be more your fantasy.

IMHO, I think WMD was a guise of Bush to sell the war to the American people.

And that sell wasn't too difficult in the wake of 9-11. Some people believe that since Bush couldn't find Bin Laden, he went after Hussain because the American people were mad and SOMEONE had to pay! It almost didn't matter whom.

Paper or Plastic?

Boxers or Briefs?

Hostess with the Mostest, or Priestess with the Leastest?

Listening to a Peggy Lee two-fer.  Two of her late 60s/early 70s albums - I love her.

Whilst running today, I was thinking about the short story I'd begun a couple of months ago - I'm now of the mind that it might end up being my next novel.  I didn't originally think it would hold for that length, but I'm thinking it just might, so come January I think that's the direction I'm going - if it doesn't hold, then I'll make it a novella and write a few other stories, but I think it's an interesting character for a book and the subject matter is near and dear to my heart.

Short of eliminating the Electoral College, one potential way to fine-tune the election process, which some states are starting to pursue, is to award Electoral Delegates in amount proportional to the popular vote, rather than a winner-takes-all strategy.

Then what would be the point/necessity of the Electoral College?

The problem with recounts is that they almost never result in a change of the results.  And, when they do, it is in the small elections, for a city council seat.  Yes, such a change did happen in Long Beach back when der B and I lived there, but this was a case where the difference between the two candidates was less than twenty votes.  That was quite unusual, and not something that happens on the national scale.

What many people don't realize (or remember) is how divisive Gore appeared to be to approximately half the nation, by trying to "steal" the election because of the "hanging chads."  Just as half of the nation was against Bush winning the election, on what appeared to be electoral fraud, the other half of the nation was equally against Gore for the exact same reasons.

Hopefully, we won't have a repeat of that come November, and one or the other candidate will have a decisive victory (or, at least, the candidate that does not win will be gracious enough to lend his full support to the winner).

As it happens, I like both Obama and McCain, and will be pleased to see either one of them in the White House.  That's something I haven't been able to say for quite some time.  Generally, I haven't liked any of the candidates for President in the elections of the past two decades, and have been stuck for far too long with voting for the lesser of two evils.  For me, this is the best election season that we've had in a long time.

We had spaghetti three times at our house this week.

I'm quite hungry now, so I shall go to the mail place and then hunt around for something to eat that's fun and diet-friendly.

Kevin said he'd be here by one-thirty, but I don't think that will happen - he can come in through the back gate and get his two DVDs from the garage if I'm not back in time.

It has been overcast all day, and I'm not convinced that the rain is quite over. But the cool has been bracing and makes me all the more eager for fall to get here.

I began my afternoon with Friday night's MONK. Mr. Monk in love. Ugh! A frustrating episode (most of them are now) though Randy's stupidity for once was very funny at the opening of the episode.

I finished watching the rest of THE SHIELD episodes. Compelling, exciting, angst-ridden. I can't wait for the final season to begin next Tuesday.
