Of course - as I had "feared" - as soon as we stepped back onto the sidewalk, there was the Van Leeuwen Ice Cream truck sitting right at the corner of 76th and Broadway!  Since that was our original mission, I suggested to DR singdaw that he at least just ask for a sample of the Red Currants & Cream that I had waxed poetic about in/on my blog.  Well, instead of asking for just a sample spoon, he came back with...

So now I'm back at my apartment gearing up for the "Big Clean" - the long overdue Big Clean.  I hope.  DR Ginny and Richard are back at their temporary abode resting up for their evening of theatre, and, hopefully, DR singdaw should be back where he belongs by now too.

All in all, another wonderful day.

*And a Big Thank You to Ginny and David for "continuing" my Birthday Week.  Truly means the world to me.

August 30: New Moon in Virgo

A new Moon in practical yet idealistic Virgo gives you plenty of energy to accomplish something that's meaningful and inspiring. All new Moons represent a fresh cycle, so this is a good time to hone in on what you want to achieve. As you think of a project, dream or goal that you want to infuse with this lunar energy, allow it to help you organize and implement those projects that are the most important to you.

So... Does that mean I should go back to the Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream truck later tonight to try the Hazelnut and Giandujia?  Or should I wait until tomorrow?  Or just do a single scoop of one tonight, and another one tomorrow?

The only negative thing I have to say (and I didn't say this to Liz or Alex) was ever since I joined Toastmasters I am very aware of people who use "Umm" or "Ahh" as a cover while the next thought comes into their heads. Not always an easy thing to do, but there was far too many of them. Someone should there during rehersal with a bell or a buzzer and sound it every time an "Umm" or "Ahh" is uttered. This will cure anyone when they realize how often they use it.

Was this her "Between Flights" show?  If so... I saw her do this twice here in NYC at the Metropolitan Room, and I sort of noticed the same "issue".  However, it became clear during the second time that some of those "Ummms" and "Ahhhs" were actually rehearsed.  ;)

*I do love that "game" where you are given a minute to describe something without using "Ummm" or "Ahhh" or "Uhh".  It's always so much harder to do than you think it will be.

Supposedly, there's a set coming out with all three film versions of SHOW BOAT, and I do wish they'd get a move on!

Well..

Nevermind.

Asked and answered (multiple times) by now.

DR Jose - you didn't!

Actually, DH Richard is holding up quite nicely.  He hasn't, though, fallen asleep like he often does in the afternoons.  Chocolate buzz, maybe?

Jose - I was in Row F for the final perf of Skip's show at 59E59 on Thursday night, when Ginny and Richard were in row B.  (Don't worry about it, mixing things up happens even to the best of us once we hit 40; it's kind of a line of demarcation.  :)  )

Hey?!?!?  How come I didn't realize that Skip wrote South Pacific too?

Well... I did.  But purely for photographic reasons.   -Yeah, that's the ticket.

*However, I did walk around for about an hour, window shopping and making some phone calls... When I suddenly realized I had walked in one big circle... And... ;D

As for the "chocolate buzz", it could very well be.  The "Cioccolata Extranoir" is a Chocolate Sorbetto rather than a Gelato.  So, no milk, no cream.  Just cocoa, chocolate chips, spring water and sugar.  Very "pure".

I continued watching GHOST WHISPERER episodes this afternoon. There was that lovely Christmas episode with guest star Gordon Clapp thinking he's Santa Claus.

And I'm in the middle of the one with a lesbian themed plot that kind of comes from left field. Good, positive episode, though.

Still, I don't believe I'll be able to finish the rest of the box tonight. There are seven episodes left, and I don't think I can get more than five done in the time I'll have left.

And as sort of an addendum to yesterday's Media Check, I'm currently listening to an album I picked up last night at Barnes & Noble ( ;) )...

An Invitation - Inara George with Van Dyke Parks

-What a perfect album for an (I'm-not-supposed-to-be-)lazy, summer afternoon!

The humidity has started to settle in this afternoon here in NYC.  However, considering how glorious the weather has been this whole week, still no complaints.  :)

We turned off the ringer on our landline phone a couple of weeks ago because it was ringing a lot and waking up our daysleeper. The handset still rings very quietly, so it is not a problem. ALL of the phone calls for the last week or so have been political junk calls. I don't even bother to get up any more.

Laters.

I would love to see "Before" and "After" pics of DDD (Dear Dirty Dog) Sherlock sometime.  Something tells me, he's still quite adorable when he's "smudged".

DR Richard must really love me, because he just offered to attend evening prayer alone, pick up dinner, and come back here to retrieve me for tonight's theater.  That way I get to see the rest of the Michigan game (which we're losing at the moment  :P )

DR Jennifer - If you did pull something in your neck, shoulder, regardless of what you end up taking for it, common sense would dictate that you try to avoid any activities that may exacerbate the problem.  Be careful as you're cooking, shopping and playing with you niece this weekend.
