There is little unoccupied land in its path - Gulf Coast real estate is quite desireable. Also, even if it "downsizes" the giant wave surge it is generating will still continue on to shore and cause considerable damage. What the fat boy who just did a canonball gets out of the pool, the waves he created still cross the pool. Remember, the majority of the damage Katrina caused to New Orleans was not casued by the wind, but by the wave surge.

der Brucer

Ah... First of all: "casued" - Thank You.  ;)

Secondly - We can still pray, and hope for the best.

I'll be watching LIFE tomorrow. There are eleven episodes in the box plus a fair number of bonus features on the three discs. I should be in good shape to get it watched and written up before its street date on Tuesday.

While I'm cooking and eating lunch tomorrow, however, I think I'll put in the 1936 SHOW BOAT on laserdisc since we were talking about it earlier today. Haven't watched it in awhile, and I'm sure I can watch the first side before getting back to work.

Whew!  m&m's World and The Hershey Store on a Saturday night?!!? You two are braver souls than I!  -Even if chocolate was involved.  ;)

Brave or stupid!  Although, on DR MBarnum's test I just scored 24, so I must be brave.  At least my foot didn't get stepped on.

And, we noticed that once we got above 50th on our walk home along Broadway, it calmed down a lot.  I was glad to see our porchlight the marquis on the Ed Sullivan Theatre.

What lovely pitchers from the continuing NYC confab!  Keep them coming.  Awaiting DR GINNY and DH RICHARD's thoughts on The 39 Steps.

Still watching the movie - took a telephonic break to have a long conversation, and am now listening to a couple of home grown CDs.

I guess we will be having choice rib next Christmas, then.

Thanks for the explanation, DerBrucer.

Well, I was a tad pedantic - when we serve it, we call it "Prime Rib" regardless of how or if the USDA graded it.

I am in the midst ofwatching a very fun old Bollywood film...SAAZISH (1975) starring Dharmendra, Saira Banu, Helen, David, and Rajendranath.

It is quite kitschy and very James Bondian. I like that in a movie.

DRLaura is picking me up for church tomorrow, and when I get home, DRMusicGuy will be bringing Sugar over to see me.  I'll take off my glasses, let her lick my face and give her lots of healthy ttreats (Sugar, that is-- not DRLaura).  He'd been without power for two days from the last storm.

Off to bed.  Good night Jon-Boy.

I think I will have to finish the movie tomorrow.

I see by the scores of a few other DRs that they rated higher on the intelligence quiz then I did. Thus I think it would be prudent for me to retire to bed with some reading material, don't you?

Thank goodness my latest issue of Bollywood Filmfare magazine arrived today.

I do hope the roasted garlic chicken pizza wasn't harmful - I just think after a four-mile run you can eat one excellent meal a day, and that was mine.

Listening to one of my all-time favorite movie theme albums - Ray Heindorf's Top Hit Film Themes 64 - what sound, what arrangements, what playing.  Tom Jones, The Cardinal, Toys In The Attic, The Prize, etc.

bk - Just enjoy the food.  Stressing and worrying about your food isn't going to do you much help, in fact, it could be harmful.  One has to eat to live, so just eat.  The more you "worry" about it - and share that "worry", the more you're liable to lapse.

Which explains why you have been offered no healthy treats.
