Good morning!

The cool temps caused me (partly) to sleep half an hour later than usual, and as a result, I feel like I'm behind with my day (though I'm not: I cleaned the bedroom areas and did my workout which is my usual morning routine).

Goiong to get to 88 today, though. Ugh! The cool mornings spoil me and make me think the day will be cool, and we're not at that point yet (and are probably a month away from that point).

Foreign movies?

Are we talking Foreign LANGUAGE movies, or just films made by non-USA companies?

If language is not a factor, then my all-time favorite is THE THIRD MAN.  I think it's one of the greatest films ever made.

...Looks like I need to find out that "disguise your double chin" trick that DR FJL was asking about last night!

Or, after Jan. 1, 2009, I will direct my efforts toward the suggestion made by DR DearReaderLaura!

Nothing on TV for me tonight. Can't wait for BURN NOTICE to come back next week, even if it is only for two more episodes before going on hiatus.

I'll be working today to finish MEDIUM's six remaining episodes and the bonus features also on the last two discs in the set. Hopefully, with no interruptions, I'll be able to get to them easily.

It's getting very warm outside.  I was going to walk up to 96th Street and back after mailing a package to Charlotte, but when I got to my post office, the automated postage machine was out of order - I don't know why the asses can't have at least two of them - and none of the ballpoint pens at any table were in working order. This is all par for the idiots who run the station, which has to be the worst in the City. So I stood in line with my unfilled-out delivery confirmation while I watched several postal clerks chat to each other and ignore the line of customers.  I figured I'd walk 14 blocks south to 68th Street where the post office branch has 3 - count 'em 3!!! - automated machines. I walked down Columbus Avenue and mailed the package, walked back up to the market and took care of my shopping.  Now I'm ready for a nap.

I don't know if i'm stepping out again today or not.

HAPTIC was a very strange play by Tom Stoppard, all about spies and Heisenberg's uncertainity principle, featuring an audience participation sequence where the female lead (originally played by Felicity Kendall) was blindfolded and asked to tell everything she could about a couple of audience members who had been brought on-stage by feeling them up.  Hilarity ensued.

Good one, Woody!

What a wonderful TOD! I see many of my own faves on the lists from other DRs. And I now have a new to-see list--some new, some to revisit.

Old, old faves:
THE LADY VANISHES
VIRGIN SPRING
TALL BLOND MAN WITH ONE BLACK SHOE
YOJIMBO
LA STRADA

Other faves:
CINEMA PARADISO
THE TIM DRUM

Honorable Mention:
WHALE RIDER
THE CHORUS

I'm sure many more will come to mind.

"Project Runway"

Fairly good competition last night.  The "safe three" who were in the middle of the pack didn't impress me too very much, I'm afraid, especially Blayne.

I thought Korto's ensemble was amazing, too, DR MattH.  She consistently turns in "the best" work in that competition, but has been rewarded only once (a few weeks back, IIRC).  Leanne's no slouche, but I don't think I would have given her the "winner" status for a second consecutive week (especially since I thought Korto's outfit last week was far superior).

Joe Faris seems to be on the Keith Bryce road to ruin.  He wins one competition and then his designs get worse and worse.  That horrendous hodgepodge he did in this competition was hideous.  The colors were awful.   I hated Suede's fabric choice.  As glad as I was to see the evictee leave, the truth is I thought Joe's ensemble much worse.

Jerrell's outfit was pretty nice, I guess, but the sad truth for me is that none of the men really seem destined for the final three.

I need to do some major cleaning and organizing today. I started it last week by giving my office a major cleaning. I REALLY, REALLY want to also get rid of more. We'll see.

But it's a lot more fun to play here on HHW.
