My cousin seems to come from an area of England that calls all candy toffee.  Her husband explained that to me so she & I could communicate.  He doesn't get the toffee for candy thing either.  She calls toffee soft toffee.


Yeah, and the kid next door called all peanut butter, Skippy, no matter what brand.  Of course, he was weirder than me!

I would love to see SOUTH PACIFIC on Broadway.  Of course, Tacoma Musical Playhouse is opening with that show, so why bother to go to NY?

I watched Sen. McCain's speech last night.  I think he is a wonderful man, but he is not much of a public speaker.

Certainly not in a scripted affair! He comes off much better if given a mike and allowed to hold town-meeting type forums.

True, but according to the article:

I've never understood why the "rape and incest" issue keeps being raised. If abortion is wrong, and it is child-killing, then all abortion is wrong; and both doctor and mother should be held accountable. Now that is a position with which a strongly disagree, but it is at least logically consistent.

You got it, DR Jane.  I "pulled into the slow lane" for 12 years, but earned 4.5 years of retirement credit by teaching and working part time.

The doctor told me that, as the glucose level decreased, the fluid would drain from my corneas, and today my readings have been 185 (7:00 am), 155 (6:00 pm) and 149 (just now).  When I was released frm the ER on Thursday night, it was 392, and it was just under that on Tuesday, when I saw the doctor.  It's going down and I suspect the new meds are a major reason for it.

And most Italian cookies - in Italy - are called "biscotti" - whether they are twice-baked or not.

Oh, and I'm back from the "Welcome To Charlotte and SETC Reception".  It was actually quite a nice little gathering.  Well, it started off as a little gathering, and then there was a big rush of people after about 30 minutes.  -And that's when I started my "I'll see you in the morning's".

*And they even had decent food (wish I had known about the food before I went out to get a slice of pizza), and an open bar too.
