Hi Danise.  I was just going to email you & ask if Hanna is headed your way.

Thanks for asking, DR Jane.  Like I said, all eyes are on Ike right now.  He could be a bad one.   :P

OREGON ZOO WANTS HELP IN NAMING BABY ELEPHANT
I suggest we nominate MBarnum as the official HHW elephant namer and have him find a suitable candidate name - then we all vote!

I would call him Baboo!

Craig & family drove through heavy storms today, heavy but doable according to my text message.  They are now safely home.

I received this note from Bob "Elusive Butterfly" Lind yesterday

Just a note to tell my New York friends and fans -- and friends and fans who may be passing through New York in mid-October -- that I'll be playing THE CUTTING ROOM, one of the most prestigious clubs in the country on Thursday, October 16th.
It will be my first-ever appearance in the Big Apple and it couldn't be at a better venue.

If you're unfamiliar with THE CUTTING ROOM, it features world class talent the likes of Joan Rivers, Pete Best (of the original Beatles), Chad and Jeremy, Jesse Colin Young and the incomparable Jimmy Webb (who, along with his manager, Robin Siegel, graciously helped me get the booking).

Here are the details:
Thursday October 16
The Cutting Room
19 W. 24th Street
New York City
Show starts at 8 pm
Tix: 212-691-1900

I would call him Baboo!

I would call him "Tiny".

I will keep in touch--if we don't lose power.  Then there is no phone or internet.  I don't know if my cell phone will work or not.  It will depend on if the towers are up or not.

Bob Lind does not live on "Nostagia" tours of 1960's artists.  He still records and performs. Sad really that he is probably mostly remembered as a "one hit" artist.

I'm still of a mind that if a CAT 4 or 5 hurricane looks like it's heading our way, I will toss the dogs and what I can into Bonnie and head whichever way (North or South) that it isn't.

I can't imagine going to one of the local shelters.  Most are schools that went to the lowest bidder to build.  At least my house is brick.

I came home early all this week to take care of Bear.  Yesterday, I gave him his meds, put the cream all over his stitches and then felt so tired I thought I would lay down to a small nap.  That was at 3:30.  I woke after 7!

I guess it was just the stress of the week finely catching up with me.

"Elusive Butterfly" evokes that period of gentle time of hope for humanity!
Bob Lind responds to mail and seems like a really pleasant man.

Not had that pleasure DR Jane.  I don't even know if he has been to OZ.

To be honest I don't even know of Joel!  (Although my memory does seem to link him with some "Western" or other - which I wouldn't have watched).

and "Dee" to me is a river in Scotland (or maybe Mrs Darin).

No wonder I didn't list any films by Raft, Cagney and Robinson.

Mrs. Dee Darin?

Mr Lind's Greatest hits CD was eventually reissued last year I think.  It really is quite lovely listening.
