The only thing I remember from El Cid's lyric is the opening two lines:

Be mine, love
On a cold winter's night, love

The version I have (which I think is the "official" version, copyright 1961 by Samuel Bronston), starts "A bell rings/In the hush of the evening."  There is a line later that goes, "So be mine love and like warm winter wine, love".

DR Cillaliz - if I had a girl giraffe, I'd name her Audrey (as in Hepburn).

I took DR MShayne's comments that way, too, Matt, which is why I mentioned "Maybe September."  I'm not sure if they still do it the same way, but back then the Academy music department used to winnow down the pool to ten or so finalists, from which the final five nominees were culled.  I have an old Academy list somewhere and "Maybe September" was one of the 10 finalists that year but didn't make the cut to be an actual nominee.  IMHO, it far deserved a nomination more than "Wishing Doll."  That said, Bernstein far more deserved to win for "Hawaii" than for "Thoroughly Modern Millie," for crying out loud.  (The stupidest scoring Oscar ever, IMHO).

NO You didn't!   Maybe it is next to "Applause" :)

I did buy the Charlie Byrd version which I am quite happy to record for Michael.
(To whom I sent an email with offer some weeks ago!). Now it will have to wait until November.

Of course as a retired person I have all the time in the world so I shall not cast aspertions, assertions, nasturtiums or pearls :)

I was indeed referring to the Charlie Byrd recording. . .
Cast whatever you will my way, but have a great trip on the Continent!

My pants are fitting better. The pairs that were too tight are now wearable. The pairs that i couldn't get into, i can now get into and do up (but they are a bit tight to be comfortable in). But my goal is to be able to wear the pairs that i still cannot even get into. So not sure if that is like 10lbs or what.

I've been a bit more lax on the weekends. Went out for dinner yesterday and had a half a smoke meat sandwich and fries. And then i had a reese peanut butter cup ( had made a batch for my sister's niece).

And today i had lunch at costco (hot dog and fries).

I don't cheat at all during the week. So this was a good change.

The only thing i'd really like to change is to start doing more exercise. I have not been doing anything except for jogging lightly on my rebounder trampoline (since i aggravated the muscles in my neck/shoulder).

So i think i would feel better if i was biking and exercising a lot more!

And now I'm really done for the day. -And it looks there are only about two-hours worth of auditionees tomorrow morning followed by an hour of callbacks for Disney. And then the plane ride back to NYC.

"It's hard out Here For a Pimp" and "Lose Yourself". Two wonderful standards in the making.
DR FJL probably sings them in the shower.

What has the Music Branch come to?

What has song writing come to?

I know I date myself, but I think that the 1969 Best Song Oscar (given in 1970) was the last group of all-great nominees.

Would anybody like to buy my animals?

2 dogs and a cat.

Any animals that wake me up at 5:45 on a Sunday morning are for sale...cheap.

Thanks! Got the car reserved and I had a coupon for a free weekend day, so it really may be the same as cab fare to have a car the whole time.  Being from a part of the country where you don't feel right without a car, I am glad to have one to use,.

If I had a girl giraffe, I'd name her Gammie, because of her great gams.

When we were in Yellowstone a few years ago, Zach said he'd like a buffalo for a pet.  We asked him what he would name his pet buffalo.  "Buffalo," he responded.  :)

Great giraffe names....but she's a girl.  Even girl giraffe's have horns.

In honor of her Papa George, how about Georgie?
