In response to yesterday's post by S. Woody White:

Well, here it is, not Monday, and I am posting something-----The new refinements to the game came about because I didn't think Bruce and I were being fair to the other players.
This IS a contest.  It's a game.  If done right, it's a great game.  You seem to want to make it a shared learning experience.  If that's what it is, it's a mediocre one at best.  We wanted you all to have more of an advantage.  If you happen to be the only one on the website in the middle of the night, you should just have to wait until someone else posts.  It will happen eventually.  This doesn't prevent you from compiling a list so that when someone else does post, you'll be prepared.  Hitting the tennis ball against the wall is a small price to pay to turn this into a great, fair game. Or contest.
The one thing we should watch out for is if someone posts a name that has already been posted.  This should not be grounds for posting another name.
Bruce, as far as my senility is concerned, there's no doubt that it exists, but even though I originally used to play this game with reversible initials, we never decided to do that in mid-game.  That's what I objected to.

...And that's why I think we need to take a break from Initials.  Maybe just make it a once a month thing/game/contest/etc.

*And, again - DR macchus - If you and bk still wish to play, then just send emails or text messages back and forth to each other throughout the day. The fact that we even have to bring up the issue of "being fair" means that the Initials game/contest has run its course on here. For now, at least.

**I think we need another "What's your favorite quote from "The Music Man"?" day.  ;)

***And it's been ages since we've done a Roll Call day too.

****And if bk is concerned about numbers of posts, then we could all just post one word posts again.  ;)

DR FJL - is tonight Skip's opening night for Herringbone at the McCarter, or is tonight just the first preview?

You know, all I'm trying to do is have fun - fun things on the board, etc.  It seemed people were enjoying it, but, you know, it can be gone with the snap of a fingers.  So, let's have a little poll and that will be that.  Yay or nay, dear readers.  It has nothing to do with numbers of posts.  In fact, I'll just make the decision now - no more game, how's that?  I'm totally jiggy with it.

I'd heard it was going to cool off, so maybe that's happening.

And speaking of soup... For last night's dinner, I ended up having a big bowl of Ollie's Shredded Pork and Pickled Cabbage Soup.  Sooo good, and just what I needed after a long day of auditions and travel.  -And only $6.00 too!  Quite the bargain.

I like to nibble on baby carrots or celery while I am watching television.

If there aren't any corn chips or Twinkies.

...And Stronger than ever!

;D

Ain't it the truth.

Now if only I knew where ALL the install disks were for my programs.  I am going to have to buy some of them new.  Oh well.   :P

Thanks for the emails, and thanks for wondering what happened to me.  I would never slink off into the night no matter what was said or done here at HHW.....I would go out kicking and screaming.  ;D

I was listening during the hiatus to a lovely CD that DR TOMovOZ made for me a few years ago....titled FASHION....included were two songs I did NOT have recordings of, but had wanted since hearing them years ago here and there:

She Wears Red Feathers and a Hoolie Hoolie Skirt
and
Clickity Clack.....

What a lovely day! Here it is, almost 10 a.m., and it's only 90 degrees out! I have been doing yardwork.

Speaking for myself, I enjoy the initials game...however it does (or did) seem to elicit an unusual amount of drama for some reason.

Yes, DR FJL.....I recently received an email almost 2 1/2 hours after it was sent.  Very strange.

They had a showing of the NEW IMPROVED HTWWW on one of the Encore Channels last weekend.

Those Cinerama movies, even if they remove the projector lines....still have some weird perspective stuff going on.....when people move toward the camera or away from it....at least to these old eyes.

Anybody heard anything about the copycat production of ALL MY SONS opening in a couple of weeks?

We did it at PCPH in July, you know.

Ok. I'd use that one as a quote, Ginny. I don't know what it means, though.

Ok. I'd use that one as a quote, Ginny. I don't know what it means, though.

DR Laura, it means that the grantmakers with whom I've worked over the past several years were very surprised to learn of my impending retirement.
