I am back from the nutritionist, and yes, DearReaderLaura, I have a lot of reading. I like her a lot; her name is Laurie, and I go back to see her next Tuesday at noon.

As to the initials game, it drives me crazy, but that doesn't mean I'm against it at all, and I think it should continue. If people don't want to play it, no one has to. Yesterday morning, I could think of no names but Hattie McDaniel and houghton Mifflin; one was already given and one was a publisher, so I took the day off to work on various jobs. Some days, the names come easily.

What I'm stumped with now, is my Adriana Hoffstedder mystery review, and I just cancelled what I had written to rethink it. BK, will there be a third and p'raps a fourth? Maybe there could be a death backstage at WICKED so that Billy is a bit more active with Adriana?

The plan is to have more, although not next year. The next one, however, will take Adriana into a more adult world - I have a great setting, very Hollywood, and she'll be interacting only with older people and yes Billy will be along for the ride.

Those weren't rules - it was just stupid and I take responsibility for it and agree with you completely. It just stopped being fun like it was the first few weeks. And I think the reasons for that have all been put forth by me and by others.

My unexpected appointment was with Teddy - so I am once again completely kempt. The new salon is very nice - on the third floor of a non-descript building on La Cienega a few blocks north of Melrose. You have to punch in codes to get into the building but once in all is fine.

I basically agree with Bruce. It should be fun, and it was on the verge of not being that any more. I laid out the first few weeks, and only entered at Bruce's behest.
With the new rules, I thought that by the time Bruce and I would enter the game, not only would the playing field be leveled, but it would it would then also become a great spectator sport. Like tennis. As far as people violating the rules, they would be rules violators. Nothing you can do about that. If implementing the new rules, which was done with the best of intentions, is not preferable to the way things have evolved into, then I would just as soon not have the game be done on this board.
Bruce, maybe JosePiano is right. Maybe we should go mano a mano by e-mail, say, once a week.

I started one for the first book and decided I was unhappy with it and wanted to redo it, so it's still germinating. I had mentioned that I was hoping this was a series and that scared me, because what if two were all there were going to be? Now that you've answered that question, I'll get something written in the next day that I'm happier with.

I now have my "Ultimate Collector's Edition" of "How the West Was Won" sitting in front of me, along with Season 7 of "Smallville" and the CD recording of "The Baker's Wife."

I'm "awaiting" my CD of music from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" -- a full disc of music from several seasons of the TV show and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, I'm awaiting the arrival of the new, minty fresh, full stereo soundtrack album of Hugo Friedhofer's "Boy on a Dolphin" released today by Intrada.

elmore's amazon thoughts are up for the first Hofstetter mystery and I like what he wrote very much.

One of the things that's enjoyable for me with this series is that Adriana Hofstetter can be put in any sort of circumstance with any sort of people - the first two kept her in the world of people her age and in the second book slightly older. But I'm ready for her to be in an adult world, and I do mean adult, as most of the people she'll interact with will be in their 50s to 70s, which will be really fun to write. But I've got this other thing germinating that I'll write in January - if I'm not happy with it, for some reason, I can always dive in to the new Hofstetter book, but this other idea just keeps gnawing at me and is way too intriguing for me not to go for it.
