On another disappointing note (with a somewhat happy ending), I decided to take my old hard drive back into TekServe, a computer store that does data recovery. I wanted to try and get back the six BBC sound files that I lost when when the computer died in January. I took it in after the computer died but we decided not to spend the money at that time. I've been working on Volume 4 of the CD and (maybe because Anthony's not here) I thought, what the hell, these are important to me and if I get them it will be worth it to me. I took the hard drive in on Sunday. They have a 75-80 percent success rate in retrieving data. Well, I got a phone call today and I'm in the 20-25 percent rate. They couldn't get anything off the drive. The sound clips are lost to the ether of past Internet broadcasts. The somewhat happy ending I alluded to is that I got a full refund of my deposit. They have a money back guarantee and if they can't recover anything you don't pay. So even though they worked from Sunday through today I didn't have to pay anything! Also, I do have the raw sound clips which I sent to Wales in the first place. When I put the CD together I will just include those clips and explain in the notes what happened.
