Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both long and short, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently in Rumania.

Good morning!

I'll have a nice long drive to thing ab out the TOD; I'm driving to NC and picking up my brother and taking him to the Fig Festival and meet my friend Siglinda:

http://www.goathouserefuge.org/figfestival.html

It's a fundraiser for her animal shelter. She's one of the most amazing people I've ever known and I'm looking forward to my brother meeting her. And we'll have some bro-sis time, too!

I have not had nearly enough sleep to do this, but I'm hoping coffee will make up the difference!

Liver with bacon and onions.
Meatloaf.
Club sandwiches. (That's what she called it. It was leftover chicken sandwiches. But we got to use the lazy susan, which is what I liked.)

But my very favorite: Sauerbraten with potato dumplings and gingersnap gravy.

I've had an upset stomach and headache most of the night. So, I called in sick this morning.  I've been sipping some hot tea. Which isn't really helping. Oh did I add my sinuses are aching. Sheesh!  Anyway, I'm going to go back to sleep for awhile and then try to venture out and get a pancake or something....perhaps a poached egg.

I love my mom's roast beef and rice.  She cooks a lot of basic but very tasty things. I liked a lot of them

I really do think that the last couple months have caught up with me and not getting much sleep Thursday night was just the last straw.  Anyway, I'm going to shut off the light and go to sleep

Good morning, all! I have plenty of work sitting oin my desk, but I think I need to finish up the HUCK FINN scores today. Tonight, I have a Virgo birthday dinner with friends, so I need to buy a couple of birthday cards as well.

I think today's walk will be southward.

My mother's matza brei was quite quite the tasty treat, and I looked forward to it every Passover.  We would even have matza brei for a few weeks after Passover, using the leftover matza.

(I was reminded at the family wedding last weekend that a family catch-phrase was "Matza brei again?" but my memories of the dish are quite wonderful - maybe it was just that any food eight days in a row can get that kind of a reaction, or maybe the reaction was just in fun.)

Year-round, she had a knack with chopped liver that others have been unable to duplicate.  And with food processors, it just ain't the same.
