My squeegee broke today.    Just when you think you can count on something, your squeegee breaks.

Now, now...I'm sure Laura will help you with your squeegee.

This must be a "Theme Day" - I'm doing laundry too.  But it should be finished in the dryer soon, and then I can head to wherever I end up heading.

Thanks for the reminder folks, I too have laundry to do.

I don't believe any of us said it was cheaper to buy from the salad bar, in fact, it's much more expensive - in the long run - to buy from a salad bar than it is if you started from scratch.

I think that depends on the nature of the ingredients and how often in a given week you intend to have salad.

If your idea of salad is one kind of lettuce, some tomato and a dressing, fine. But if you like a mix of greens, cucumbers, onions, mushrooms, beets, etc. and don't plan on more than four salad servings in a week, the salad bar can be less expensive. (We often go with the bagged mixed greens augmented with a selection from the salad bar - and I like the pickled beets and marinated mushrooms!) After my salad is served I often augment it with avocado and anchovies.

Back from church, lunch at Chipotle, and a bit more Krogering.

I wish we could go to the BC/EFA Flea Market for some small items for my contribution to my department's Staff Day raffle basket.  We're doing "Our Favorite Things" and I'm doing an "I <heart> New York" gift.  So far, I have a tin that says "Hershey's Times Square," that I'll fill with kisses, and 3 bookmarks.  Anyone want to contribute anything else?

I decided upon the NYC theme after ruling out raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens.

I did the little bit of work I had to do and sent it off.  I then did my weekly weigh - lost another three pounds, for a total of twenty-three thus far.  By next Sunday I'm hoping it's at least twenty-five, and then there's just another five to go before I figure out exactly how much more I want to lose.

Because of last night's splurge meal, I'll either do tuna sandwiches today or a footlong Subway turkey and then a snack later, perhaps a fruit medley.

I would have been doing laundry today, but Angel decided to throw up all over the bed yesterday, so laundry got moved up a day!

I stopped at a Jamba Juice on the way home from church (where I got to see DRAlura- the face in the misty light) to get one of my favorite smoothies (although I don't think the term had been coined when I first started going there).  I considered getting a wheatgrass shot.  I've had them before, and they're supposed to be very good for you,  but I feel like I'm burping up the lawn for the rest of the day.   You end up smelling like someone just mowed.

I sure enjoyed that when it aired - I wonder how well it holds up?

I only watched an episode or two during its entire run, so I'm anxious to see it myself. But I likely won't get to it until Tuesday.

When I lived in apartments, I used to do laundry on Saturday. For some reaon, once I moved to my house, I began doing it on Sunday, and it's been done on Sunday now for decades.

I watched Thursday night's SMALLVILLE while I cooked and ate lunch. A pretty good episode with the return of Justin Hartley as Oliver Queen as a regular on the show rather than as a recurring character. He will be a hunky addition to the cast. And I always love to see Alan Ritchson as Aquaman even if he didn't get much screen time. He's been working out A LOT since he was last on the show! He had the best physique of any of the guys.

Show was pretty good until Clark was swooped up as he was dying, and then the writing went to pot. We never saw how the others escaped from where they were being held, and the explanation of healing Clark just didn't make any sense. Yes, our sun is what has given Clark his powers; that's straight from the mythology of the comics, but the sun is the sun whether it's 93 million miles away for 60 million miles away. Why wasn't it restoring his powers all along? Just stupid writing.

Then I watched three more episodes of CSI: NY. All of them were entertaining. (I meant to mention last night that in the Halloween episode, Bruce Dern, once an Oscar-nominated actor, had about a three minute throwaway part as a cemetery maintenance man. He didn't figure into the mystery or anything. Baffling that a wonderful actor would be tossed such a nothing role.)

I watched two bonus featurettes which were on Disc 2. One had to do with the "Down the Rabbit Hole" episode dealing with virtual worlds. The other had to do with that Halloween episode which was directed by Joe Dante. No mention at all of Bruce Dern in that feature.

Speaking of salads, when you mentioned Grapefruit sections, all I could think of was Louella Parsons when she lunched daily at the Brown Derby.  The Brown Derby had introduced a signature dessert (an orange chiffon cake that was a top secret recipe for about 30 years -- all of them baked by this sweet little queen in his kitchen and delivered to the Brown Derby and various stars' homes for parties, a fascinating story, actually -- he wouldn't even give the recipe to Eleanor Roosevelt despite her demands).   Since "Lolly" was fat and boozy, she decided that that it would be fewer calories if it were a grapefruit chiffon cake because as she so wisely stated, "Everyone knows you lose weight by eating grapefruit."   Have another drink, Louella.
