Oh...it was for Tommy Smothers, not both of them.

Kudos to Oprah - the nation's richest woman chooses to shop at TJMAXX so all the other women look good in comparison!

In which Emily Post column did Jeremy Priven find that kissing a baby before it is born is OK?

Thankfully he did not choose to shake hands!

I feel like I'm in another reality watching the Emmys.  I don't know who two-thirds of these people are, and I don't WANT to know.  The "hosts" are singularly unfunny and terrible, and even Tommy Smothers was a disappointment - for some reason I thought it was a tribute to the brothers and that THEY were up there together.  Well, I read a whole long magazine while glancing at the TV.  I'm done, though, but I've left it on so I can hear it.

Later in the show the Gang of Five comment that Jimmey Kimmel told them at rehearsal that their intro number wasn't working - they should have listened!

I watched TRUE BLOOD.  Yep, it was the best episode yet, but, knowing the novels, there are still better things to come. . .finally, a mention of Eric.
Lois Smith certainly knows the art of acting.

Then I caught up with another Hitchcock film which I had never seen:  THE WRONG MAN.  It's very sad and melancholic.  I've never been a Henry Fonda fan, but Vera Miles' performance is perfect.

Once again Peter Bogdonavich in his ascot and lilac shirt all over the meager documentary.

Well, just remember, the reason you didn't know two-thirds of those people is because you don't watch television.

*And I'm sorry I called it a "tribute".  It appeared to be being set up that way, but then... So, yes, you can blame me.  However, Tommy Smothers was not there to be funny.  He was there to accept a "postponed" Emmy award.

Sept. 21: Larry David and guest arrive at the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles.

Methinks "guest" needs a clarification.

I'm listening to Take Flight.  I saw this at, I think, its first workshop or reading or whatever it was.  Not much has changed, I must say.  I love David's music, but this isn't his finest hour and you'd think after eight years it would have gotten better.  Richard's lyrics are fine, but as with a lot of his lyrics I find they're technically proficient and filled with good craft, but somehow just don't enhance characters.

The show's big ballad has been turned into a duet - it was a female solo when I saw it.  The tune, for those who know their Shire or who have David Shire At The Movies CD know that the glorious tune was not written for Take Flight, but for the film Old Boyfriends.

The voices on this recording are okay but not stellar.  When I saw it either Rebecca Luker or Christiane Noll sang it (can't remember which).

Those British musical theatre stars really aren't known for their incredible singing, you know. :-X

Next I watched TRUE BLOOD. Best episode yet, I thought. Really starting to dig deep into these characters to see what's making them tick, and I'm loving it.
