I watched THE SHIELD's penultimate episode today as I ate lunch. Such tension and many surprises. Next week's series finale is 90 minutes. I hope my heart can stand the tension.

I spent most of the afternoon watching the excellent THE SPY WHO CAME IN FROM THE COLD. Starts rather haltingly but once Burton gets out of prison, the pace picks up, the sotry becomes clearer, and then we get those marvelous twists at the end.

I pulled out my Paramount disc of the movie but forgot to compare them since I moved on to the bonus features. But I will compare them tonight.

There is a trailer on the first disc along with the movie but no audio commentary.

I had time to watch the first bonus feature: a 2008 interview with John Le Carré that lasted 39 minutes. Loved hearing his stories of the film's production, whom he thought would be ideal casting, etc. Very good featurette.

The next is an hour long documentary on Carré's career. I'll watch this and the others when I go back down.

Did anyone else get the two MAMMOTH auction catalogues from Profiles in History today?  The one featuring the archives of Collectors Book Store must have cost them a small fortune to print.

Someone is supposed to come and pick up some CDs, but I have to get a package to UPS and hopefully pick up some packages for ME, so I guess I'll leave a note on the door.  I'm also starving.

This just in:

CA Supremes Agree To Hear Prop 8 Challenge    California's highest court has agreed to hear legal challenges to the state's new same-sex marriage ban, but is refusing to allow gay couples to resume marrying until it rules on the measure's validity

Oh, dang. AOL is discontinuing their AOLpictures so they transferred all of my photo albums to some American Greetings photobucket-like place. It is slooooow as molassas and evidently it does not work so hot when you link to you photos! Although they did show up initially.

I have to wonder what this has to do with the photos you posted today disappearing.

I'll bet Photobucket wouldn't do that to him.

Mark called me last night at about 8:30.  He had just gotten through talking to the neurosurgeon.  They had scheduled Stan for another CT scan this morning, but due to the lack of progress, they did the scan last night instead.  The results showed that there was absolutely no change in Stan's brain since Sunday's scan.  They asked for permission to operate one more time and see if there is anything they can do to correct Stan's brain.  The surgeon said not to hold out much hope for any change, but that he did want to, at least, try.  If this surgery doesn't work this afternoon, there is nothing more that can be done for Stan.

And of possible interest to a couple of DRs...

To Save and Project: The Sixth MoMA International Festival of Film Preservation

This year's exhibitions/screenings have just ended, but they had a great line-up of films.

Some very interesting movies showing at that, DR Jose. DR Rodzinski turned me onto HELL DRIVERS a while back, and what a great, tense movie that was!

Oh Mike, I am sure you have been turned on to by Hell drivers before.

DR TCB, I am very sorry to hear the latest news about your friend Stan.  we need a massive vibes campaign for everyone on this site.

DR MBarnum, I still see nothing where the images you claim to have posted should be. What if only you can see them?
