DR MBarnum, DOSTANA is playing in the East Village on Third Avenue, and I may try to see it on Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Happy now?

Very happy. Did you make sure it was still playing this weekend? See if they have  a souvenir booklet when you are there.

MBarnum, that is the most beautiful tree! Maybe if you lived in the desert for a while where trees don't change color you would understand why it is sooooo beautiful!

What kind of tree is it?

Speaking of DVDs, I have another stack which can be yours individually or collectively (a 5th Dimension reference) for cheap:

Grey's Anatomy Season 4 Blu-ray
Stuck Blu-ray (Stephen Rea and Mena Suvari)

Lovejoy Christmas Episodes
One Touch of Venus
Smithsonian Legend of the Crystal Skulls
The Commander Season 1 (follow up show to Prime Suspect)
La Dolce Vita Deluxe Set
Spin City Season 1 (Michael J. Fox)
Monty Python Live

There will probably be more soon as I clean various rooms.

The educational DVDs are the most impressive (no, not the ones owned by DR ELmo...) -- like the ones put out by the Discovery Channel ... Planet Earth, etc.

Unfortunately the History Channel and A&E still put out a lot (a LOT) of unenhanced product (not a euphemism), which drives me slightly nuts.

I agree completely. So does PBS, MTV, Comedy Central, and others on my review list.

I do not know...although I have been told many times. Oak? It has those little twirly things that fall off and land in the rain gutters and make me have to clean them out.

Greetings DR Mikey! I've been thinking about you lately with the opening of Slumdog Millionaire. The male star was on David Letterman last night to promote the flick. Have you seen it? It's getting rave reviews -- of course, only in limited theaters right now. They were talking about the dancing Bollywood ending -- so natch' I thought of you.

There are so many reference quality discs for Blu-ray and DVD.

For DVD animation, I'd pick THE INCREDIBLES.

For DVD live action, I'd pick STARGATE.

For Blu-ray animation, I'd pick CARS.

For Blu-ray live action, I'd pick LIVE FREE AND DIE HARD.

For HD DVD live action, I'd pick THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM.

All five of these offer the best mix of picture and sound on my equipment.

Today I'll be working on A COLBERT CHRISTMAS. The special airs on Sunday night on Comedy Central, and two days later, it's available on DVD. This should be a fun and easy reviewing chore.

He was on Fresh Air last night and they played several of the parody songs, all of which were fantastic.  The opening number is a perfect pastiche of a swingin' Bobby Darin type of tune--fantastic big band arrangement.

As of last week, a new catering outfit took over our company cafeteria.  Every monring they freshly bake these amazing cream scones with raisins and a lemon/orange glaze that are TO DIE FOR.

But....  I must resist.    :(         :P

Goodness that looks & sounds yummy :)

I hope that DR KERRY's dental appointment goes well. I saw my dentist on Tuesday and was told I need EIGHT crowns!!! I'm still reeling from that news.

EIGHT!!!  When was the last time you went to the dentist?

I've seen a lot of video on DVD, and some of the most stunning were either HD-DVD or gorgeously upconverted.

The BEST HD-DVD I've seen has to be "Meet Joe Black".  I imagine the Blu-ray can match it, but I don't believe standard DVD ever will look as sharp, as deep and as spectacular as this film looks in high def.

Amazing standard DVDs, upconverted, include:

The Last Starfighter
South Pacific
Hello, Dolly!
Funny Girl
The Geraldine McEwan "Miss Marple" series, which I'm sure was filmed in high definition.  The image is also anamorphic (16:9), which is a huge plus.
A.I.
And I'll concur with others over the Harry Potters and Lord of the Rings films.

Many of my videos look wonderful upconverted, although some decidedly don't measure up -- transfer-wise -- and will hopefully be remastered/re-release.

I actually slept eight hours, a first in about six weeks.  But I must be jogging by nine, so I have to wake up and de-groggify.
