The birds are eating their food.....and yesterday there were two small wood peckers with beautiful white and black feathers knocking on the post that holds the feeder.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... Oh, and I guess, technically speaking, it's "Good Afternoon" for me by now.  Ah, well...

bk - You do know that it's going to be cold(er) here in NYC while you're here.  Do you have the requisite jogging apparel?  -Including a cap, or some sort of more complete head covering?

We found her in the backyard. We want to find her a home. She is VERY affectionate.

And Kerry absolutely, resolutely and completely remains UNmoved?  Tsk!

Maybe he needs to eat more fiber.

So if you care to find me
Look to the western sky
As someone told me lately -
Ev'ryone deserves the chance to fly
And if I'm flying solo
At least I'm flying free
To those who'd ground me
Take a message back from me -

Tell them how I
Am defying credulity!
I'm flying high
Defying credulity!
And soon I'll match them in renown
And nobody in all of Oz
No wizard that there is or was
Is ever gonna bring me down!

Greetings DR Mikey! I've been thinking about you lately with the opening of Slumdog Millionaire. The male star was on David Letterman last night to promote the flick. Have you seen it? It's getting rave reviews -- of course, only in limited theaters right now. They were talking about the dancing Bollywood ending -- so natch' I thought of you.

OH!  Was Dev Patel on "Letterman" last night?  Dang, missed it/him!  I'll see if I can find clips on line.  -Although, the episode will probably be repeated sooner than later since that's the way they tend to handle the repeats now when the show takes it's regular taping hiatuses - hiati(?).

In any case... I loved the movie!  And, yes, the "finale" is quite wonderful and joyous.  -And I think it's put there to help everyone stop crying.  Well, almost everyone. ;)

I hope that DR KERRY's dental appointment goes well. I saw my dentist on Tuesday and was told I need EIGHT crowns!!! I'm still reeling from that news.

How many kids does that dentist have in college?

And by 7:31 the nasty neighbor was haranging the super...

I'm so happy that I can now read the NY Times on-line at home!

-And you can read most of "today's edition" starting at midnight - sometimes even around 11:30.

*And if you get the RSS Feed, you can start reading some of the special sections - "Dining & Wine", "The Magazine", etc. - days before they appear in print.  -And you also get the "early versions" of the articles too. Sometimes it's interesting to compare what got edited out - or added - in regards to print space considerations.

As for the Topic of the Day....

I am happy that some of my favorite movies are available on DVD, but I'm another one who just watches the movie, not the DVD.  I rarely watch any of the "extras".  -I know that older films are going to look "older", and I would hope that more recent releases look clean and play without any jitters and skips.  -And I still prefer seeing movies on the "Big Screen" anyway.

I watched QUO VADIS on DVD last night.....I like the Roman parts of the movie.....the Christian parts are a bit pious for me.....but Peter Ustinov is terrific....

I know there was much discussion about the color here, but I only had an old VHS version, so this looks great to me.....maybe NOT the way it's supposed to be, but better than VHS.

OK, this may just be really flaky.  The Typealyzer is supposed to allow you to enter a web page or blog, and, Astrology-like, characterize its "personality."  So, out of curiosity, I put in HHW.  Here is the result:

Quote
ESFP - The Performers

The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don´t like to plan ahead - they are always in risk of exhausting themselves.

The enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation - qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.

When it comes to DVDs, I seldom pay much attention the extras.

Forget the shorts.  Forget the cartoons.

I want to see the movie.  Period.

I will check out alternate endings and an occasional deleted scene, but unless there is a specific scene that is of interest, I almost never listen to the audio commentaries.

90% of the "Behind the Scenes" documentaries on current movies are self-congradulatory and, frankly, dull.  I hardly ever watch them for more than a few minutes, if at all.

I do enjoy the short retrospective featurettes that often accompany classic films, particularly when some of the original actors or other participants are interviewed.

What I enjoy the most are the feature-length documentaries, often orginally made as stand-alone TV specials, that are incorporated into some of the "Collector's Editions"  Two examples: "The Making of GONE WITH THE WIND" and the documentary on Budd Boetticher that is included in the recent 5-disc release from Sony.

Also, not sure if it was made strictly for the set or for TV broadcast, but the documentry that is included in MURNAU, BORZAGE AND FOX is also very good.

Regarding the selection of Cabinet officers/Presidential staff:

Let's see,

The talking heads on the right see evidence of the President-elect pulling the nation toward radical socialism…

The chattering pundits on the left see evidence of a dangerous move to the right…

He must be doing something sensible.
