I'm up, the sun is shining, but I think I'll jog when I get home - too chilly and I won't be fully awake in the next ten minutes, which is when she of the Evil Eye will arrive.

For those so inclined, Gramophone magazine, the UK reviewer of classical recordings, has now put the entire output, from 1923 through today, online!  A free searchable database! :)

It can be accessed HERE.

Best plays I saw this year were:

Boston Marriage, starring The Lovely Wife
Arcadia
Moonlight & Magnolias, in which I played Ben Hecht
Merry Wives of Windsor
Constant Star
Pillowman
Fantasticks, directed by The Lovely wife and currently playing

All of the above were done at Actors Guild of Lexington

I also saw a good local production of History Boys

I saw a terrific production of the SEAFARER at the Ensemble Theatre in Cincinnati.

Musically, I enjoyed Johnny Crawford and his 1920's dance band onstage at Pioneer Playhouse in Danville.

I'm actually looking for theatre in 2009, with a trip to London.  Already booked: August:Osage County; Twelfth Night with Derek Jacobi; RSC's Midsummer Night's Dream; Entertaining Mr. Sloane with Imelda Staunton; Complicit with Richard Dreyfuss at the Old Vic...

What is this, a monologue?   I see DRs, but I don't see posts.     ;)

It's from hunger, I tell you.

My great-nephew Jayden has arrived to spend the day and night with Grandma and Grandpa, and he is one smart 3-year-old whippersnapper. He wanted a chap stick and I had a spare one in my coat pocket, so I am now his best friend. I've taught him several new vocabulary words this morning: "Tasty" and "Gurgle" and Randy's taking him Christmas shopping later. Jo's advice was "come back and tell grandma what he buys."

He and Jo will spend some time watching cartoons and preparing food fro tomorrow's party while I work on Victor Herbert music.

DR Ginny, I may just check out the Cincinnati Ballet's schedule for this week.

I was starting to worry about this upcoming storm in the Pacific Northwet.  However, this morning the radio and televsion stations are all doing variations of STORM WATCH, 2008!  That is ususally a sure sign that the storm is going to miss us entirely.

Good Afternoon!

Well, I had sort of made plans to see a couple of movies today - I really want to see "The Class" ("Entre les murs") - but it feels more like a cocooning day.  Or maybe even a good day for some holiday baking.  :)

Well today is the day I'm going to the movies and dinner with my friend.  He called again last night and we chatted for about 15 minutes.

.

What movie?

The Day The Earth Stood Still.

As in The Day that everyone's emergencies stood still so Danise could go to a movie with her gentleman friend!

I hope he isn't to shocked when he sees me.  I've gained so much weight.

DR Danise, if he expresses shock and can't see your lovely personality, he's taking you out for the wrong reasons.  Have a grand time tonight!

I do plan on going on some kind of diet after the first of the year--with everything that has happened as of late, I just wasn't in the mood to stick to any kind of plan.

Now that I have all of the Weight Watchers books, I think I will go back on that.

I'm thinking about joining WW after the holidays, too - we could be an online group!  DR Cillaliz can be our inspirational leader!

Count me in too!  I've gotta lose this baby weight.

Well, they have a new plan. It's called the Momentum plan and it's a combination of the flex plan and the core plan.  Not really much different but there has been a little grumbling about it.  If you really want to do it, I recommend doing the monthly pass and the etools.  You can track everything on line and it calculates your points for you.   I also really enjoy the meetings.  People who follow the plan and go to meetings lose more weight and people who do those two things and do etools lose the most.

The thing I like the most about the WW meetings is that it's such a positive environment.  Everyone cheers when you do well and commiserates when you are struggling.  There are always good suggestions, recipes that people have adjusted, suggestions for things to eat at restaurants that are good and low points etc.  We laugh a lot and it's a good motivation to keep going

Just got the horrible news that one of my interviewees passed away. Miss Lynn Bernay died on Dec. 14th of brain cancer at her home in New Mexico. I didn't even know she was ill, although I had not heard from her in quite some time.

She was mainly a dancer in films like SINGING IN THE RAIN and GUYS AND DOLLS and all of those 1950s Columbia and AIP musicals (DON'T KNOCK THE ROCK, CARNIVAL ROCK, etc), but she also worked as an actress in films like VALLEY OF THE REDWOODS and VIKING WOMEN AND THE SEA SERPENT.

Probably not.  According to yesterday's paper, they're having trouble filling seats and even removed one performance from the original schedule.

Just found out we have a problem with the Twisted Nerve master - a hiccup on one track that I hadn't noticed before but that my webgal noticed - it's being fixed right now and I'm PRAYING that they haven't put this on the press yet - I think I'm in time, though, but will have to sit on pins and needles until Monday.

Vixmom, you have asked about my sister, and I don't think I ever answered. She is recovering from her surgery and will begin chemo on New Years' Eve.
Thanks for asking.

I shall pray for her continued recovery and that she has an easy time with chemo
