Just got back from the movies.

We were going to see BENJAMIN BUTTON, but it was sold out, so we saw DOUBT instead.

Excellent.

Some Christmas viewing - Hinge and Bracket.

A singing-comedy team from England. Two men playing two women, They had a radio series that lasted several seasons and a TV show, also. They even played dramatic roles as their alter egos, for example they starred in Lettice and Lovage.

Very funny, from their TV show. Many decades ago, when self-service gas stations just began.

Rather a sad piece...the cancer that eventually took Patrick Fyfle (the main singer) seems to have been taking its toll here.

Just repartee between the two of them.

My DS is sick today, so we will open the very few presents when he wakes up tonight.

My younger DS is also sick, except his gift to us is a special dinner tonight-so of course he is cooking.

Keith had to plow most of the road.  We don't want to walk up the road tomorrow night after dropping the gang off at the airport.

One of the strangest Christmas Eve's I ever experienced was in Perth, Western Australia.

I was on USS Carl Vinson and we were making a port call during Christmas.  I checked into a nice hotel and spent the afternoon sunbathing on a mostly deserted deck by the rooftop pool.  At some point, there was a bit of excitement from across the pool but I didn't bother myself to investigate.  Then, someone took occupancy of a deck chair near mine.

For the next hour, I was sunning beside Pat Boone who was in town doing a concert.  Circa 1986, as I recall.

We are having a beautiful white Christmas, but boy does a warm one sound good right now. :)

Thanks - my mom designed and made it many years ago. I wear it only for very special occasions.

I'm sure you do.  Ioana is learning how to knit off the internet.  Her first attempt, & not a bad one at all, was a scarf for me.  Craig picked the color :)

I was watching RELATIVE VALUES, a film from 2000 that I guess was only seen on cable television here.  Based on a play by Noel Coward and starring Julie Andrews and many others.  Very funny.

Don Lucas: (famous American movie star visiting Marchwood, William Baldwin) I have to get back to Hollywood.  I'm in the middle of a picture.

Lady Marchwood: (Julie Andrews) Oh how marvelous.  Can you tell us what it's about, or is that a secret?

Don Lucas:  It's no secret.  It's about a bum.

Lady Marchwood:  Oh.  That's rather an unusual subject for a film, isn't it?

Peter: (nephew of Lady Marchwood, Colin Firth) Uh...that word doesn't mean quite the same there as it does here.

Lady Marchwood:  Oh.

Vibes for DR TCB!  Do they sell those yak traks where you live? You put them on your boots and they make it so that you cannot fall on ice.

I keep meaning to look for something to put on my shoes when I hike.  Every time I'm out with my hiking group & we all start slipping we all say we should get them.  So far no one has.

You should definitely try these. I've bought them before for my uncle.  I listed some links on the other page. I think qvc is a pretty reliable place to order online from.

They are only like $10 a pair. And they do work.

If you walk a lot where it is icy these would help you. You just attach them to your boots. and it makes it so you cannot fall down.

Christmas evening greeting!  We've had a delightful 24 hours in which I only slept 4, so I'll be crashing soon.  My mom, aunt, and niece arrived about 5pm yesterday for Christmas Eve dinner and the exchange of presents.  After they left, DH Richard, DS Rob, DG (dear girlfriend) Mary Linda, and I began opening gifts, which we finished after the 11pm candlelight service at the nearby church where Richard teaches Tuesday morning Bible study.  So, it was actually Christmas morning when we finished opening presents and went to bed about 1:30am.  I had trouble going to sleep and had to get up at 6:30 today in order to be in Cincinnati for 10am mass at our Anglican church.  Rob and ML left from there to spend the next week or so in Michigan with her family and Richard dropped me off at my mom's.  Mom, my niece, my aunt, and I went to see Marley & Me, which this "animal grinch" enjoyed quite a bit.  My niece brought me home and she and my mom joined Richard and me for a light supper of leftovers from Tuesday and Wednesday's dinners.  Richard and I are now watching Kung Fu Panda.
