Well, this morning was a doozy and I'm still a little shaken but not stirred by it - not weirded out by it, since something like this happened back in 2001 prior to the advent of this site.   It must have been around six-thirty or seven, since it was not quite light out yet.  I woke up from a dream, and I had to go to the bathroom.  Even as I was getting out of bed I knew I'd gotten up too fast after awakening - something you should never do for reasons you'll understand momentarily.  I got to the bathroom - whilst doing what needed to be done I was very, very dizzy, the result of having gotten up too fast.  I had to hold on to a little shelving unit in back of the toilet.  I finished, and tried to get back to the bed quickly - I didn't make it.  I lost my bearings and I think I either stumbled or blacked out for a second, because instead of getting to the bed I went down, unfortunately near the dresser.  I don't know if I went completely to the floor, but it was close.  I was brought back to complete consciousness by pain in my chin, my knee, and my ribcage.  I realized I'd begun to collapse and I obviously did so while banging into the sharply-cornered dresser.  I stumbled to the bed and lied down.  I felt my face and everything felt okay, my knee hurt, and my ribs hurt only a little, so I just laid there and got my bearings.  I could feel the inside of my cheek which felt pretty raw and I'd obviously bitten it somehow, as one sometimes does.  After about ten minutes, I got up and went back to the bathroom.  I had a nice little gash and bruise going near my chin, but no real blood - just real redness.  I washed it and put a Band-Aid on it.  I then got back into bed, where I've been until now.  When I got up again I looked at the dresser, which was very interesting.  I'd knocked a candle off of it, and everything on it (TV, stereo speakers, stereo) had been violently shoved out of its usual places (not by much) and all the CDs that were stacked were lying all over the top of the dresser.

and shout, "Happy New Year!"

And not "Underpants!" ??

;)

I suppose I could always bang my underpants together and figure out something appropriate to yell.   If I were wearing my underpants at the time, I'd probably just yell, "Ouch!"

Rikki recently blacked out and fell violently backwards, after getting up off the couch too fast - and now needs yet MORE back surgery...

This same sort of thing happened, as I mentioned, back in 2001 - I woke up from a dream, got out of bed before I was really awake and alert and I passed out before I ever got to the bathroom - just for a second, but I went down, and the back of my head poked a nice little hole in the hallway wall.  Now that I think of it, maybe that happened after this site was created.  Today's event could have been much worse - could have really hit one of the sharp corners of the dresser.  Thank God I didn't.  But I don't like having a Band-Aid on my chin, and the sore knee may preclude me from jogging today, although I may give it a whirl, just to see if I can work it out.  My ribs aren't sore at all, thankfully.  And that was my morning.

I'm going to guess that the Long Jog will be considerably longer in a walker...

My question for ASK BK day....

What is the most beautiful movie costume you think ever to appear on the screen?

I love all the costumes, male and female from Singin' In The Rain.

WOW!  And then so many of them showed up in Ann Miller's number in DEEP IN MY HEART!

George--you should have gotten 30% every DVD and CD you got, at least if your a Border's Rewards Member.  As TD will concur, they're having a storewide sale until January 4.  You don't need a coupon.  If you didn't get the discount, you should take the receipt back and demand one.

Also, George, the MP3 arrived, safe and sound--thanks so much.  Though I must say whoever thinks that song sounds like Sergio's vocalese tune "Zanzibar" (by Edu Lobo) is INSANE!!  :)

BK, have you thought of installing some sort of Cirque du Soleil rigging around your house to keep you upright?  :)

Not sure what to do about jogging and the knee.  I definitely banged it pretty hard, but I also don't like to give in to that sort of thing and I know that sometimes you can work these things out if you work them out.

DR DRuxy,

I am glad you verified Pat's well being.

By they way, did you ever know Donnelly Rhodes or Ann Wedgeworth?

No reason, other then the mention of Pat Harrington somehow reminded me of these other two 1970s tv people (who are both favorites of mine).

I'm not sure if the promotion is still valid, but if you're looking for a (relatively) cheap Blu-ray/Game system, SonyStyle.com was having a PS3 sale for $249.99 ($150 off retail).  You need to have good credit and be eligible for instant approval for their Visa, and jump through a couple of rebate hoops, but it's a great price.

bk - If you still feel a little "off" a few hours from now, I'd suggest getting to an ER or least to a friend/doctor - someone who can check your blood pressure for you - and maybe even your ribs and skull.  Otherwise, it's good to know you're taking it easy now, and that your injuries were relatively minor. ~~~~~~~~~~

Just noticed the gardeners couldn't be bothered to show up yesterday - so I had to take the trash can out and got it out there just in time for them to empty it.
