So...

The galleries were practically deserted after about 7:45pm or so.  It was a true mob scene when I queued back up at 6:30 in the lobby.  People were shoving people aside to make sure they got in "first".  After getting "nudged" a few times, and finally just spoke out loud, "Everybody slow down.  You will all get in.  You have three hours."  I'm not sure it did them any good, but it did help me.  ;)

Of course, I just ended up heading directly up to the Atrium to sit in the middle of
"Pipilotti Rist: Pour Your Body Out (7354 Cubic Meters)".
It was truly "groovy" just lying back and being a part of it all.  I even think Monkey enjoyed it.  ;)

My sister and I loved the Pink Room (as we called it), but I have to admit that I was feeling a bit dizzy in there (probably due to a drop in my blood sugar as much as the effect of the videos.)  I have to check to see if any of my pics are worth posting.

Actually, part of the reason I finally left the museum - and why I did not stick around for "The Private Life of Don Juan" was because my blood sugar was dropping too.  -Or had dropped.  It was already close to 8:00, and the last time I had had anything to eat was around Noon.

*However, I did make one more quick pass through the Van Gogh since it was almost empty. ;)

I'm pretty sure that the candy thing in Chicago was by the same artist.  He also died from the effects of AIDS.

You are correct, DR Dan (The Man):

Could it be? Yes, it could.

I'm listening to a really fun three CD set by four French girl singers called Les Parisiennes, with arrangements by the great and grand Claude Bolling.

There's a lot of banjo and tack piano on this CD.  And then it suddenly veers into faux rock and roll circa 1964.  But I like it.

Why isn't the image showing up - I copied Image Code in Photobucket, which usually shows the photo rather than a link.  What did I do wrong?

You need to get each and every Quarteto em Cy CD available, including the two brand spanking new Japanese reissues of their two Warner albums under their Americanized name The Girls from Bahia.  You will be in aural heaven.

Mostly arranged by Oscar Castro-Neves, I might add.

Okay, Jose - here's what just happened.  I added the image to "downloads" - now I have in my doc a little thing called downloads and also next to it something that says pdfs, where that stuff goes to.  I just nuked both out of my dock and I want them back.  I found the downloads folder but it will not go back in the dock.  What do I do?  And I'd like that pdf folder back there, too.  Any clews?

We've arrived in Anaheim and have since had dinner at the House of Blues.  The drive down was a bit un-nerving as there were a LOT of people on I-5 and of course, none of which seemed to know how to drive.  Really annoying.  Anyhow, to bed in preparation for a commando-style day in the parks.  (and that statement is NOT what you all are thinking)  :P

GLENN GOLDMAN, OWNER OF BOOK SOUP, DIES AT 58
Goldman opened the Sunset Boulevard bookstore in 1975 and Friday announced his decision to sell it.
By louis sahagun

January 4, 2009

Glenn Goldman, whose independent bookstore, Book Soup, became a Sunset Boulevard landmark known for its tall, teetering stacks and mazes of shelves crammed with titles that attracted entertainment and tourist industry clientele, died Saturday. He was 58.

Goldman died of pancreatic cancer just a day after announcing his decision to sell the legendary store, which opened in 1975 and offered an eccentric mix of works ranging from Star Maps to rare collectibles such as Helmut Newton's $1,500 photo extravaganza, "SUMO."

Goldman, who looked like anything but the stereotype of a big-city bookseller in his casual blue jeans, pullover shirts and Nike athletic shoes, was regarded as a superior businessman who prospered in an increasingly capricious market.

"Glenn brought a highly individual face to the Los Angeles bookselling business," said Doug Dutton, who closed his own Brentwood bookstore, Dutton's, in May. "He was a man of strong tastes and not shy about voicing his opinions. But even if you didn't agree with them, you admired the integrity and honesty of the man behind them."

Jonathan Kirsch, an author and frequent customer of Book Soup, said: "Every bookstore has its own personality. His store had the hippest image in town." Founded across from Tower Records and the original Spago restaurant -- and bookended by head shops and strip joints -- "Book Soup was ground zero for a certain cool West Hollywood cultural vibe," Kirsch said.

In the late 1980s, he moved the store to more spacious digs a few blocks down the boulevard, where it quickly developed a reputation for art, photography, film and music books, and high-profile signing events featuring authors and celebrities including Gore Vidal, James Ellroy, Mikal Gilmore, Edward Albee, Robert Wagner and Tom Stoppard.

You somehow "deleted" a Stack by dragging it out of your Dock.  To add a Stack - or add something to a Stack - you simply have to drag it to the RIGHT SIDE of your Dock.  -Then drag the other items on top of it.  -You should see a light gray divider next to the Recycle Bin - that's what separates the Stacks from the Apps.
