DR Laura, I was delightfully surprised by your watching one of my favorite shows BURN NOTICE, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It's such a fun caper show, and the personalities of the leading players are so captivating.

Send thanks to DR Elmore who turned me on to the show!

I thought I also raved about it ;)

DR Laura I am not shocked you liked THE CLOSER & BURN NOTICE.  Both are excellent shows & my two favorite ones.

vixmom is only 16 posts from 11000.

And only 127 posts from 11111.

HMMMM I wonder if I can think of anything newsworthy to report

You must ask DR singdaw how to do it.   He knows all about it.

Now that I'm all caught up, I must take a shower, get dressed and meet some friends for lunch.

Be back later!

Does no one else harbor secret hopes of being on a TV game show?

(of course I am too lazy to do anything about trying to find out how to actually apply to be a contestant but maybe someday Howie Mandel will show up at my house and ask me to be on the show... could happen!)

I always wanted to be on Password (I just reviewed a magnificent set of the 1962-67 CBS version).  I also harbored secret fantasties of being able to use "smidge" as a clue, delivered in that weird, elongated, questioning manner that they used, usually to get them to say the opposite.  I am known for saying "smidge" in that manner for no reason whatsoever.

Since I'm going to be in the other end of the house for a while, I'll sign off and give the computer a rest.  Don't want it to look like I'm sitting here like so much fish.

Bye for now!

In a perhaps related development, I am now the proud owner of the jewelry Frances Farmer put up for collateral in 1954 when she "disappeared" to Eureka, CA and needed a fast $250 to make her escape.  I need to have it appraised to see if it is really diamonds and emeralds, as alleged, or artfully cut glass. :)

Not bottled drinking water. That has minerals added for taste.

Bottled distilled water. You can find it in your grocery store.

I never used tap water for my cat's drinking water

Neither did I, and with large dogs sharing the drinking water it became rather expensive at times. ;D

And that's always been part of the problem.

Good things about radiation:

Free teeth whitening

Free facial hair laser removal

Cool biology facts discovered

reduces grocery bill (only $20 for 24 cans of food!)

eliminates cooking

no cooking = no cleanup!!!

One good thing I hadn't noticed until last night:

My sense of taste is returning.

One bad thing I hadn't noticed until last night:

One should not have a sense of "taste" when one is de-glopping.

Yuck.

Vibes this begins to improve soon!!!

For those eager for some late breaking news on Scarlett Johannsen (or however the hell she spells it), this might bring some fitful amusement:

Speaking of TMI,

the nurse at Rediation said if I am thirsty all the time it means I am dehyrdrated and that I should use the feeding tube to drink water.  I was mystified how sticking water inteh tube (which feeds directly into my stomach) could make my mouth and throat feel better - but by golly and buy bonds it did!

Now I have to keep track of how much water I am "drinking " to be sure I am getting at least 8 glasses in a day

I am learning so much weird stuff about how my body works.  I think the vixter has biology next year - she should be taking notes on me I bet I would be a heck of a good extra credit paper!

I was concerned you would get dehydrated.  I'm very relieved you figured this out before it became serious.

VIBES FOR YOUR WONDERFUL VIXDAD!  I’m praying all your side effects quickly subside once the treatments are completed.

Thank you for the good wishes.

One bad thing about one of the good things:

Too many cans of food can cause a cabinet to come crashing down!

Back from the long jog - it's another pretty day out, and the pedestrian area was clear, despite work going on.

There are many boxes piled up in the yard and on the sidewalk.  He's actually moving pretty fast, but I think it will take him at least another two hours to get all the boxes out of there.

DR vixmom:

I'm somewhat intrigued by this "feeding tube" in your stomach.

Do you just attach a bottle of water to it and turn the bottle up....or what?

And does it work at parties?  Say...near a champagne fountain?

And what would happen if someone accidentally blew some reefer smoke into that tube?

Sometimes you 're better off not knowing Dept....
(sorry JMK I dun stole it)

I asked about the recovery period after they stop the radiation - apparently it will be 1 -2 months before things start recovering but the sense of taste can take up to a year to come back

A year! :o I'm so sorry. :(  As least you have a better idea of what to expect.

And what would be the "opposite" of "smidge"?

I'm guessing some would say, "That's easy...it's 'alot'!.  But, of course, "alot" is not a word.  And "lot" wouldn't work

So...."smidge...?"....should elicit.....?..."heaping?"...or "excessive?"

1.  It is about a foot long flexible clear tube slightly wider than you r average drinking straw

2. I use a bulb syringe that looks like a small turkey baster (it holds 60ccs of liquid at a time if that's helpful)
I pour whatever I am eating or drinking intoa glass and then just suck it up the syringe and then put the syringe in the end of the tube (after opening the tube, it's capped like a blowup toy) and slowly squeeze whatever is going in,in.

3.  I would guess so... Vixdad has already (teasingly) threatened to get me drunk by feeding me liquor in my sleep

4. Come on by and let's see!
