Thanks, Ron Pulliam.

Are you feeling better today?

I'm at work.  I'm lucid.

I guess.

But I still have the hacking cough (just not as often)...and not much "Glop" comes up any more.

The first 15 minutes of the local evening news has been Colts owner Tony Irsay talking way too much about life and spirituality and football and belief systems and faith and I can't understand a word he's saying.....

I recently read, however, that Obama has lent his support to a movement that would -- AGAIN -- delay the start of the new standards.  I hope that doesn't happen because we'll never be readier than we are now.

VIBES for Laura that her test come back better this time.

Thanks. We just had Christmas, though. I wonder if that one meal will haunt me.

Football speak is on a separate plane of existence.

And in Oakland, it is owned by Al Davis.

As much as I'd love to get Criterion's "Magnificent Obsession", I can't help but wonder WHY, WHY, WHY the label didn't release it in Blu-ray as well.  I just know they're going to go that route and I won't buy it twice.

It's bad enough they're issuing previously issued titles on BD...and that means if there is something we truly want on BD, we have to buy it again.

But why not at least give use the immediate choice on the new titles?

WOW?!?!?

I just had to switch to CNN since the NBC affiliate just switched back to "regular programming": the fourth hour of "The Today Show" with Kathie Lee and Hoda.  ::)

Well it is NBC. They don't like to cover what they don't like

We just had Christmas, though. I wonder if that one meal will haunt me.

If it involved green jello with red maraschino cherries, it should!!     :)

That was in April, 1966.

:o  You've been married almost as long as I've been alive!!

Congratulations!    :)

Up until that night we were best of friends.  His parents gave him the tickets for his 17th birthday & were concerned it wasn't an appropriate play for me to see. :).   We didn't get married until we were 20.

re: scrambled eggs.

I like it with milk and cheese. But if i'm watching my milk intake i've found/and read that you can substitute water. It works.

DR TCB - I'm sorry if any of us spoiled the GG's for you.  I actually wasn't sure if they were being broadcast live on the West Coast, until I started seeing "Oh, it's now on" posts.  I thought that since bk was asking for a play-by-play, that they were on live on the West Coast - and that he just didn't want to turn his TV on.

*Did you happen to notice if Darren Aronofsky's "finger" got blurred out during the West Coast feed?

I was in the same boat as DR Jose. I even asked if it was being broadcast live and no one answered. I just assumed with no response that it must have been.  Sorry.

I just removed my wedding rings...

In some countries, if you then just turn around three times...

...You'll be divorced!    ;)

Does your spouse need to know? If you turn the other way are you married again?

Just got back from Reb Aryeh's service (Dan in Toronto's cousin).  It was held in the largest synagogue in Portland and there was barely enough room, even with SRO.  They've set up a Wordpress site for remembrances:

Been thinking about the little change I have to make and I've finally figured out the substitution, which I'll probably try to write later tonight.

MR BK did you ever audition or get a call for a production of THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT?
Owl and the Pussycat - I didn't appreciate that movie when I was  a child, but loved it when I caught up with it years later.

The night Keith told me he loved me was the night we saw THE OWL & THE PUSSYCAT with Bill Bixby.  I wish I had the ticket stub for that night.  That was in April, 1966. :)

Goodness, I hope he's said it more than once!  ;)

I don't know who is in the path of the winter weather onslaught....did Cilla ever weigh in or whether she got the blizzard or merely a snowfall?

Here in Oakland, the weather is gorgeous and warm.  Too warm.  It's in the mid-70s, there are some gusting winds and the sky is blue, blue, blue.

I'd love it if the winds didn't wreak havoc with my sinuses!  For some reason the more air that rushes around me decreases the pneuma I need inside me.

We were expecting some snow and temps warm enough to crust it over so the 50 mph winds wouldn't blow it around.  Guess again....we left the office around 3:00. It was pretty nasty and is still bad out.  I don't know if we're officially having a blizzard here, but it's snowing the wind is 35-50 mph and you can't see very well.

BTW the word blizzard was first used in my home town, Estherville, Iowa, by the then editor of the newspaper.

*DR Sandra - The next time you make scrambled eggs, and you find yourself out of milk, just do without it.  Cook the eggs low and slow, and gently fold the eggs over themselves in the pan as they cook.  Oh, and cook them in a good amount of melted butter... Then dot the almost cooked eggs with some cream cheese...  :)  -Otherwise, whipping cream in scrambled eggs.. YUM!  -But that may not be the best thing for your cholesterol test results.

"...may not be..."??     Why not just tie off her major arteries and call her time of death?

Use Egg Beaters.  If you want to use some milk, use fat-free or 1%.

Or you can use one whole egg and a couple egg whites.  Tastes the same and cuts down fat and cholesterol considerably

In more mundane news, I took the Frances Farmer jewelry into a gemologist this morning to get some feedback on its worth.  The ring alone is worth almost what I paid for everything, so I'm happy.  The worth of course doesn't even take into account its historical "worth" (can that even be measured), or the documents that came with it.

The public schools in Norfolk, NE (pronounced Nor Fork) aren't letting kids leave school until a parent picks them up.  I keep wondering about what happens to the kids if no parent shows up
