The headline PASSENGERS SCRAMBLE TO RESCUE BOATS had me say "wha?" at first, but then I figured it out.

...of rufous-sided towhees (normally ground feeders).. housefinches and thrashers (our state bird)

We have them in spring/summer, but they don't winter over; the twohees like to pal aound with the red-winged black-birds.

I tried to upload a video of her playing in the Christmas tree, but it was too big for photobucket.

Could you post it on YouTube?

Just read that the latest Donald Strachey mystery starring Chad Allen, ON THE OTHER HAND, DEATH comes out on DVD on February 24th. Can't wait. Since the here! Channel is denied me in the Bible Belt, I have to rely on DVD to be able to see these well produced mysteries. The next one, ICE BLUES, has also already aired on here! so I expect it'll be released in a few more months, too.

The here! Channel is not available here in Olympia, but some (all?) of its programing is available on Comcast's OnDemand (for a fee :-\).

Oh.. And Ruby Foo's on the Upper West Side and Fiamma shuttered their doors too in the past few days.  Ruby Foo's I could basically care less about, but Fiamma had received a rare 3-star review in The Times last year.  Yep... It's the economy.

I don't know what that means either, but I was able to upload a couple of video files that were from my cell phone camera.  Do you have a YouTube account?

We don't have the red-wing blackbirds. We did have one, once, but I think he'd gotten separated from the flock.

My DH is on a plane back from Austin, TX right now---I hope he will have less trouble then the New Yorkers. It's a private jet, so at least he didn't have to deal with all the security hassles. He should be landing any moment.

Back from errands, a stop at Costco (for water and Diet Coke), and then lunch.  I shall now try to write another page or two, and then I shall get ready.

I shall remain quiet and not mention today's temperature.

The view from my bedroom window this morning. It's hard to read, but it says 22 below.  The official temp here was -20.  But the sun was out and I thought it was a beautiful day.  I don't mind the cold. I like it better than 100+ degrees.

I was just saying to Keith I bet the pilot receives some sort of award.  I bet he is feeling rather pleased with himself right now.
