I do hope the pilots of that flight receive commendations - brilliant flying.

I was just saying to Keith I bet the pilot receives some sort of award.  I bet he is feeling rather pleased with himself right now.

He'll feel better after he changes his shorts.

Who is this terrorist in my living room???

Oh, wait, it's Anthony with his new apparel for the frigid temperatures in Wisconsin (he also has some chemical warmers in case the hat, gloves, coat and boots are not enough).

When I lived at the lake I was involved with the Okoboji Winter Games. One year I was in charge of ice bowling.  It was -9 that day and I was standing on the frozen lake. I used the chemical warmers in my boots and gloves and I wasn't cold all day

This is how I imagined it would be on the ferry's rescuing the passengers on the plane.

" Mr. Watta said in a telephone interview that his ferry was diverted to the plane after about two minutes out of port.

"A lot of people were in shock, and a lot of people were freezing,” he said. “They loaded about fifty onto the boat, and we gave them our coats to warm them up and tried to comfort them. We were holding people, hugging them, reassuring them, holding there hands, warming them with our body heat. We tried to take them to the back of the ferry which was warmer because it was furthest from the entrance.

He added: “We provided cell phones so they could call loved ones, a lot of them were so cold that they couldn’t dial so we dialed for them. I would say that everyone on the ferry were heroes for the day, they were all civilians who stepped up in a time of need to help their fellow citizens.”

Thankfully none of the news reports mentioned anyone needing a change in shorts. ;D

I would like to read more about the divers out there & what they did.  I hope no one catches pneumonia from this-darn it was cold & they were wet too.

There were people on the some of the ferry boats Twittering away during the rescue efforts.  -Since some of the boats changed their course mid-trip in order to help with the rescue effort.

Thanks, everyone. I just squeaked by, really.

The difference between this test and the other tests is that I sprained my ankle. I guess I should do that more often.

It's just amazing and really refreshing to see such a happy ending to what could have been such a tragedy if the pilot hadn't been so great

It sure is. :)  Normally I don't watch the news, look at the photos or read the stories too much.  This was great.  I do feel bad some people were injured, and I keep thinking of all the lost luggage.  I didn't see anyone exit with anything in their hands except cell phones.

Okay, someone explain Twitter - I know it's been explained before, but I passed those posts over because I just don't NEED all this crap - Facebook (which has, I have to imagine, killed MySpace) is bad enough, and there's just something new and faddish every day.  So tell me about Twitter.

Just got back to the post/article that DR DAW linked to earlier, and read it.
