Today I actually set foot in the library & picked up a new card.:) I also checked out two books & used the self-check out to do so.

When we first moved here Echo was permitted in the library & I went more often.  Once they changed the dog ruling I barely went, plus the old building was musty & bothered my allergies.  A number of years ago a new addition was added to our old Carnegie Library.  I had only been in the building once since then, just to peak at it.

We have a drive up book drop off which is convenient.  If we had a drive through pick-up I'm sure I would have continued to use the library & my original card would not have expired from lack of use.

Cool!  Another library user!

Well, it's time for me to leave.  I have several shows to watch on TV tonight ("Fringe" is the only one that I can remember at the moment, other than the inauguration specials).  I might scan through the inauguration stuff from this morning to see what's interesting. :)

Until later!

Oh...

From the lack of people in the restaurants in Carytown, I'm guessing both the cold and Inauguration coverage was keeping people at home.  It really was strangely empty in some places.

I did make a stop into one of my favorite stores, "For the Love Chocolate".  As the following pictures demonstrate, they carry much more than chocolate.

Speaking of CastRecl, what planet is Mr Camner from not to hear Aretha's dividing "country" into two words by taking a breath between syllables?

I really loved the Yo Yo Ma et al performance which I thought was quite beautiful.

It's been interesting reading some of the reactions to John Williams' piece/arrangement.  Some people really loved it, and some people were truly underwhelmed by it.  ??? ??? ???

*I'm also trying to get some sort of confirmation whether or not Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Anthony McGill and Gabriela Montero were "playing to tape" during the broadcast in order to insure proper balances and transmission.  Either way, I really liked it.

I didn't mind it, but I so like the song and felt the simplicity of the Shaker tune,  which is one of the things I like best about it, was lost in the arrangement.  my 2 cents.

I wonder if there have been any significant events in North America during my absence.  I hope everyone has behaved.

I was very happy to see Gabriela Montero up on that stage.  She's made a name for herself playing "classical improvisations".  Her technique, inventiveness and humor is astounding.  -And her playing of the standard repertoire is quite impressive too.  She even takes requests!

Tuesday night....Katharine Hepburn on TCM......I may watch some Australian horror films instead.

I hate to think what!

"Wolf Creek" is quite possibly the only Australian horror film worthy of the genre.

Of course any film with Ms Kidman might well be regarded as horror. (but of course she was born in Hawaii)

I had a full evening of entertaining viewing.

The first part wasn't so entertaining, though. I finished the bonus features on the FRIDAY THE 13th set, and among the ones I hadn't watched was one sick little short titled "Lost Tales from Camp Blood" which was simply an excuse for a maniac to carve up a couple in the middle of the night. I truly do not understand the need for such an inclusion.

The little 7 minute film looks like it cost about $1.98 with cardboard sets and awful slasher effects. Why, Paramount, why?

Once I had finished with it, I pulled EAGLE EYE off the shelf and enjoyed it all over again. The time just flew by.

Because I had enjoyed MAGNIFICENT OBSESSION so much last week, I pulled down ALL THAT HEAVEN ALLOWS and watched it again. I hadn't watched it since I first got it a couple of years ago, and it was nice to see it again. It's a nice transfer, but MAGNIFICENT OBSESSION is a better transfer.

I had it in my mind that Agnes Moorehead played the gossipy, bitchy friend in this, but she doesn't at all.

Next, I finished THE STARTER WIFE episode I had gotten about 3/4 of the way through before lunch early this afternoon. There really wasn't that much left to watch of it.

And I concluded my evening of viewing with the BURN NOTICE episode recorded off Universal-HD (the only way I get to see these in high definition) that featured Lucy Lawless as the hitwoman.

Looks like THE INVADERS will get postponed yet another day. The Blu-ray of ANY GIVEN SUNDAY arrived today, and it comes out next Tuesday as well, so I'm going to go ahead and work on it tomorrow.

Next time, DR Kerry.

Surprisingly, I didn't buy anything there today, I just took pictures.  It really is a wonderful store, and the four pictures I posted are truly just a fraction of their inventory.  They also have their own in-house line of specialty chocolates, and do a pretty good business in custom chocolates (business promotions, weddings, etc.)  The owner/manager, James, happened to be in tonight, and it was great seeing him again too.
